Your Thought Life Will Determine Your Success!

19 [h]While anyone is hearing the Word of the kingdom and does not grasp and comprehend it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the roadside.

20 As for what was sown on thin (rocky) soil, this is he who hears the Word and at once welcomes and accepts it with joy;

21 Yet it has no real root in him, but is temporary (inconstant, [i]lasts but a little while); and when affliction or trouble or persecution comes on account of the Word, at once he is caused to stumble [he is repelled and [j]begins to distrust and desert Him Whom he ought to trust and obey] and he falls away.

22 As for what was sown among thorns, this is he who hears the Word, but the cares of the world and the pleasure and delight and glamour and deceitfulness of riches choke and suffocate the Word, and it yields no fruit.

23 As for what was sown on good soil, this is he who hears the Word and grasps and comprehends it; he indeed bears fruit and yields in one case a hundred times as much as was sown, in another sixty times as much, and in another thirty.  Matthew 13:19-23 Amplified Bible

This is one of my favorite passages because it truly speaks of our success and how far we will go as Christians.  Notice in the first verse Jesus tells us that we are expected to PRODUCE!  We were made to work and be productive! Everyone has something that is expected of them and when we reach Heaven God will ask us what we did for Him!  He destined us for a purpose and He expects that purpose to be carried out until the day He calls us home!

Notice that the seed is good.  That is because it is the word of God.  What needs careful attention is the soil, which is representative of our thought life!  There are four types of soil or you could say, four ways we have trained our minds to think.  I had a pastor’s wife once years ago.  I love her.  I am not sure, other than my mother, if I have ever met a wiser woman.  Her name is Annette.  She mentored me as a young Christian and taught me many valuable things!  One of the things she taught me was to watch out for what I was thinking about!  She told me, she would always say this when she felt her peace slipping away, “Who is talking?”

Did you know you have to “think on purpose”?  It is true!  This passage proves that. Let us look at the types of soil and see which one is controlling their minds.  Remember a fruit of the spirit is self-control!  You CAN and MUST control your thought life!

The first soil mentioned is shallow soil.  It says when the seed fell on this ground the birds came and ate it up!  Now have you ever seen a bird digging deep holes looking for food?  No!  The bird eats what is pretty superficial or what is right on the surface.  This type of thinker doesn’t give much thought to the word of God and it never takes root.  The minister teaches the word and when church is over the message they just heard just kind of goes out the window!  They “clock in” to church.  In other words, church is just a ritual basically for them that makes them feel better because “it was the right thing to do”!  They don’t actually live what they hear, and actually they don’t understand it enough to live it.  They are shallow minded Christians.  They think about things like “When will this preacher ever shut up??” or “What am I hungry for after church?”  or “What football game am I going to watch this afternoon?”  I am sure you get the picture!

The second soil is “rocky soil”.   Rocky soil is based on Christians who hear the word with great joy, but when satan comes “ON ACCOUNT OF THE WORD” to steal it and all the powerful effects of it in their lives, they actually become offended with God, blame Him for something unfortunate happening  and fall away from God in distrust!  This is exactly what the devil wants you to do.  If he can get you offended, whether with God or others, he can steal the word which is full of power and might  and keep you a weakling, and sadly,  possibly his own pawn!  These hearers begin to think about what they think  God should have done to stop whatever happened and, instead of knowing the word says YOU have the authority to stop satan through the name of Jesus,  they backslide wanting nothing to do with God.  God didn’t fail them!  They failed themselves by not being mature in the word of God.  God actually says in one place “My people perish FOR A LACK OF KNOWLEDGE!”  What knowledge is He talking about?  The knowledge of the word!!

The third type of soil is that which is full of “thorns and thistles” and could not PRODUCE!  They are the ones who are compromising Christians.  They want the comfort of worldly things, to do things their own way,  and they compromise the word of God in their lives making it ineffective and without power. They lay the word aside to have whatever fleshly thing that is appealing to them at the moment.   In other words, they choose the world over what God says!  It literally “suffocates the fruit” and they produce nothing of lasting worth in their lives here or in Heaven!

Last of all, there are those who are hungry for the word!  They accept it and DO it!  They understand it and meditate on it and it becomes powerful and a vital part  of their lives!  These are the producers of good fruit, not weeds that are good for nothing except to hinder the growth of what is good and profitable!  They watch their thought life and keep the “garbage” out!  These Christians are successful and have the power of God operating in their lives.   They walk in a  great anointing and do great things for Christ! They are not sloppy “hit and miss” Christians.   They are PRODUCERS and God honors and rewards those who work for Him!!

That is the category I want to be in, and I am sure you do, too dear reader.  Don’t be ignorant of the “devil’s devices”.   Stand up to him with your sword, which is the word of God, in your hand and put him on the run!  Be productive for God.  You will never regret it and you will see yourself and your loved ones living in the blessing because of it!!

Thank you for stopping by, dear reader!  Have a blessed day, all day!!  I will see you soon!
