Peace is in the Mind, Not in a Geographical Location

“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God,   and we take captive every thought to make it obedient  to Christ.”  2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV

Have you ever heard someone say, “Oh, I just need to get away!”?  These people think if they travel, move, etc. things that bother them in life will change.  They think with these actions greater peace will come to them.  They won’t worry anymore, be stressed, or have to face issues they don’t want to deal with.  The only problem is, it isn’t your location that is the problem; it is your mindset and how you handle stress.  A tree, acres of land, beautiful rivers and lakes, mountains, or singing birds have never solved a problem.  Now, you may have gotten alone with God and the Bible and found peace and answers through prayer OR  you could have gone to these places and thought more deeply or worried more!  The point is your answer doesn’t lay in a location other than your own heart!

If you are a nervous person, no matter where you go, that “nervousness” is going to creep back up because it is your “habit” or way of thinking and your approach to problems that has made you this way.  Everyone wants to live in a “Mayberry”, but have you noticed that every thirty minute episode is geared to solving some type of PROBLEM??  Even “Mayberry” isn’t perfect!

Recently in my life I have had major changes happen over the last six months and some have caused me major stress!!  Out of my mouth came the words, “I need to just get (run) away!!”  I did have a wonderful time when I “got away from it all”, but at times during my alone time I found myself thinking and worrying about things.  How would they work out?  When would they work out?  What could I do to help it work out?  I was surrounded by trees, sunshine, a placid lake, quiet, singing birds, and PEACE, yet I was worrying!!  The only thing that had changed was my location!  I had to expel the worry and listen to God!  There was only one thing I could do and that was trust His word, which is the same thing as trusting God because He and His word are one in the same.  (John 1:1)

Matthew 6:34 The Message Bible says, “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow….”  Talk about putting it all in a nutshell!!  I couldn’t have summarized this post any better!!

Have a blessed day, my dear reader, filled with joy and “free from care” thoughts!  Remember, God has you today and always!!  See you soon!!
