When the Enemy Comes In Like a Flood, the Lord Will Lift a Standard Against Him!

“When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.”  Isaiah 59:19

This week has been a trying one for many in my town and within my family.  My daughter had a tremendous disappointment on Tuesday.  I cannot go into detail because I don’t have her permission on it, but I can say this….she was expecting one thing that will tremendously effect her future and it wasn’t as she had thought.  Then, yesterday she found out a classmate had died unexpectedly…he was 22 years old.  Our entire town was in shock and in sadness for this young man and his family.

I watched as tears came in literal streams down her face.  All I could do was hold her.  I was powerless to help her, and I knew this was a literal attack of the enemy to discourage her and try to make her give up on some things.  The night before I had been at church and my pastor gave a call to come pray if you would like to.  If you had, had a trying week we were to feel free to just  have some prayer time.  Oh, I was so relieved God had spoken that to him.  Both of my children were facing new challenges and they were on my mind heavily!

When I went down, a dear friend came and put her arms around me and began to pray in the Spirit.  Thank God for the Holy Spirit…the Bible says He knows how to pray through us when we have no idea how to pray for ourselves or others!  She then gave me a word of encouragement and told me God has it ALL!!  Praise God, HE DOES!!  God’s favorite game is “show and tell”!   He shows up big on our behalf and we go and tell what He has done on His behalf!  It is called “a testimony” of His goodness!

I know today our economy is suffering, the government is faltering, and the news wants to publish some no name actress and what color dress she wore yesterday to some unknown event!  Praise God, though it seems at times there is no sense or answers in the world, God has us in His hand and no man can pluck us out!!  We are in a safe and secure place in Him!

I love Psalm 91…all of it!  It says…

“He who [a]dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand].

2 I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!

3 For [then] He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.

4 [Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler.

5 You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day,

6 Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.

8 Only a spectator shall you be [yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High] as you witness the reward of the wicked.

9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place,

10 There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent.

11 For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service].

12 They shall bear you up on their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.

13 You shall tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the serpent shall you trample underfoot.

14 Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness—trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never].

15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation.”  AMPLIFIED BIBLE

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary a refuge is defined as:

  • A condition of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or trouble.
  • Something providing such shelter.

No matter what we are facing today, dear reader, God is for us, with us, and keeping us.  He says He protects us from EVERY evil work…and evil is something that isn’t good!  God only has good in mind for you and me today, dear reader!  Remember, the Bible says He always causes us to TRIUMPH!!  Let me give you an example my uncle, who was a pastor, used to tell.  There was a painting in the Louvre Art Museum called “Checkmate” painted by Friedrich Moritz August Retzsch.  There was a World Chess Champion, who had a hobby of visiting art galleries and museums. He visited the Louvre where the painting was being displayed.  He stood there and seemed enthralled with the painting.  He could not take his eyes off of it. The painting shows two chess players playing a chess game. One is satan who seems to have won the game.  He has “check”.   The other player is Jesus.  After more time of seeming to be mesmerized by the painting, the chess player exclaimed, “It is wrong! It is not ‘Check’.  The King has one more move. The game is not over.  Jesus has checkMATE!!  We must find the person who painted the picture and tell him that he must change the picture or change the title!”

Remember, it is not over!  God always has one more move and He will always give YOU and me the victory!  It is a fixed fight and already won, by our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!!

Have a victorious day, my dear reader!!  Remember, no matter what it LOOKS like in the natural for the moment, God has your future SECURED!!!  See you soon!
