Throughout all of time Christians have faced opposition. I love an event in history that my mother often refers to, to encourage herself and others.
There was a pompous king by the name of King James. He ruled harshly and had an ego bigger than his country! The original scrolls for the Bible had begun to age and the fear of losing them and the cherished verses they held became a prime concern for Christians! They knew if they went to King James and asked him to allow them to update and put them in the form of the “Bible to be preserved”, he would likely deny their request. They decided to appeal to his ego and told him exactly what they wanted to do….they did not lie about their intent at all! They told him exactly what they wanted to carry out but, they also told him they wanted to call it the “King James Version” because they knew if he had the “version” named after him he would not deny it. It would appeal to his ego and he would allow it! That is exactly what occurred and we have the “King James Version” of the Bible today, fully intact with nothing lost! These Christians prayed and did exactly what God told them to do. THEY, themselves did not figure this out. God led them to know what to do and they listened and obeyed.
This is not the only instance where God’s people did not know what to do next. There are examples all throughout the Bible of this. Some are Gideon, Joseph, Moses, Paul, Jehoshaphat, and those are only a few! It tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
In other words, don’t try to figure it all out! Trust God to go before you and give you wisdom on what to do and when! He will tell you everything to do and it will be done better than what you could have figured out for yourself! When we do this it takes so much pressure off of us!!
It is good to know that I don’t have to figure it all out. BUT, I must not be lazy in my walk with God! I have to take time to pray, seek God’s will, and listen in order to obey it and TRUST Him to carry it out successfully !!
I hope this encouraged you, dear reader! Give yourself a break and let God go before you, knowing He has your best interest at heart! This is the day the Lord has made, REJOICE and be GLAD in it!! You are blessed!! See you soon!
