Every year my husband and I make an annual appointment to have our house inspected just to make sure there are no unwelcome guests living in our home. I got the phone call from the exterminator on Tuesday to tell me they wanted to set up a date. My husband told me to make it Friday, at 1:30 because he would be off that day and if there was something he could take care of it.
Today the doorbell rang at 1:15. I look out the window and there sits the company truck of our exterminator. I was sitting on the love seat in my pajamas, reading “Rhythms of Grace” posts, and had gotten so into them I forgot the time. I also forgot the “bug man” was coming! I looked at my husband with sheer panic on my face and he looked at me and grinned! I “whispered”, “Oh no!!! Look at me!!” He grinned wider!
I raced to the bedroom, slammed the door, locked it, and threw on my clothes. I then cleaned our room in what seemed like seconds. Jewelry I had left out was being thrown into drawers, along with my pajamas. If a professional baseball team had seen me I would be signing papers right now as a pitcher!!
I came out, and “the bug man” was in my wash room. Things began to fly in the kitchen! I looked at my husband’s office and decided not to worry about it, I mean everyone has to have ONE junk room in their house, right?
The dogs were going crazy and jumping all over me as though a serial killer had entered! I started thinking about it all. You really can make a cluttered house look immaculate in less than three minutes. Just make an appointment with a “bug man”. I can’t tell my husband this, he will have him over everyday!
23 The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step]. Psalm 37:23
Yesterday, I had my first article published. It was exciting, yet at the same time it was an ordinary day. No “let’s celebrate dinner” (I had a kiddie burger from Whataburger), no “fanfare” (I helped a friend set up their blog), just an ordinary day. I praised God it was published and the gospel got out to more people due to that fact, but I KNEW the publishing of that article had NOTHING to do with me. It was all about God and the message of the gospel being pushed out even further to readers! I praised Him that it was chosen for publication and gave ALL glory to Him and went on my simple way.
I got a phone call yesterday from a friend and she wanted for the two of us to submit articles to a writer’s convention to be reviewed and considered as “features”. I told her I felt good about it and I would like to participate. Now, here comes the funny part. All of my life, and I mean ALL of my life, the devil has used a spirit of rejection to keep me from moving forward. I hate to say this, but until last March, he succeeded more times than I care to admit! The devil had to try to “suppress” me again! Not long after we got off the phone I got an email from a man who I used to go to church with. He was always full of charisma (his own) and I could tell he nor his wife cared much for me. He began to tell me he didn’t read my “transmissions” (he was referring to my posts on the blog) and to stop sending them. I did not know he was even getting them. He is in my “google circle” and somehow they are coming to him that way. I used to take these things so personally! Satan knew I would worry, “What did I do? Can I correct it?” I would rack my brain to try to understand why people would get so offended with me. God spoke to me and said, “Juliana, the problem isn’t yours, it is theirs! I am not bringing these people and then you are offending…satan is bringing them to keep you pushed down where you can’t step into what I have for you. He wants you to withdraw into hurt!” I was shocked! I just KNEW something had to be horribly wrong with me. I became severely depressed and I could not take the hurt and rejection any longer! I became reclusive, withdrawn and down, and questioned God as to what purpose I could possibly have in life. I was not in self-pity! I truly felt so horrible, I had begun to reject myself as a person. Little did I know, God had a glorious plan for me and the enemy was trying to stop it! God taught me, that I did have the potential to offend and hurt others. That I should always be aware of my heart motives. If they are pure, and He would show me when they weren’t, then the responsibility for how others acted and reacted to me was not MY fault but their own. I was to keep the responsibility where it belonged! At the same time I was to walk in love! Even Jesus, when He hung so unjustly on the cross said, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do!” How much more so are we to love in such a manner!
I called my mother (they are “friends” with my parents) and told her what he had said. My mother knew of my former depression over such behavior in the past. She said, “Don’t let this stop you from writing!” When she said that the Lord spoke to me and said, “I may close the door on the writer’s convention to you, but know just because I do, it is because a better one is getting ready to open and if you have walked through that one, you will not be able to walk into the best for what I have waiting.” I told my mother what God said and I rejoiced!! When I woke up this morning, I saw this picture on Facebook! WOW, talk about confirmation!!
Don’t let the enemy oppose you, dear reader! Examine your heart and ask God to reveal anything that may be there that is not glorifying Him. When and IF He does, ask forgiveness and move on deeper into the glory! If there is nothing, let the responsibility of what others do and the attitudes they choose to take stay where it belongs which is on their doorstep. You keeping moving on and up and bother the devil for a change, instead of him bothering you! Your steps are ordered of the Lord. Keep following the Holy Spirit and you will end up exactly where you should be and that is in all of God’s best He has destined for you!
Blessings to you, dear reader! I appreciate you stopping by! I will see you next time!!
As for man…as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. Psalm 103:15 Amplified Bible
7 [Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is.8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8 Amplified Bible
33 Therefore having been exalted [a]to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth (as in water) this which you both see and hear. Acts 2:33
18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit. Ephesians 5:18 Amplified Bible
There are several places in the Word that the Holy Spirit is referred to as a type and shadow of water. I have listed only a few. It is so important to read the Word, meditate on it, and let the Holy Spirit bring revelation of it into our lives. We are told in Ephesians to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. Every single day, we need to be “refilled” from the day before. The more you give out, the more you need to take in! This is especially true of when I write. God cannot bring to my remembrance and use what I have no idea of. I have to be refreshed in order to bring forth a devotional that is not just necessary for me, but something others can glean from as well! I have to remain “full” of the Holy Spirit, my teacher, Whom I cannot do without!!
Notice in the scripture where manna from heaven is talked about. That manna was good for only one day. The next day they had to gather fresh manna all over again. It is the same with our walk with God. Every single day, it is necessary to “fill” back up on His word and His presence. It is like a decanter that holds cooking oil. I am sure you have seen them in the “kitchen” aisle of almost any store. You fill the decanter up with the oil and you pour it out to use as you need to. It doesn’t take long until you have to “refill” the decanter. Why? Because you have “poured out of it to be used”. The Old Testament is full of “types and shadows”! In other words, it is an object lesson foretelling of things to come in the New Testament. You can find all sorts of symbolism in the Old Testament. Mannna is just one of many symbolic references of the Holy Spirit and our growth and sustenance in God!
Notice in the first scripture it says, [Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is.8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river… Where is this person planted? They are planted by the WATER which is symbolic of Jesus and the Holy Spirit! What is the result of being planted in this place? … it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit. Notice it doesn’t say it is planted by and be confident in the stock market. Notice it doesn’t say it is planted by and is confident in the economy. Notice it doesn’t say it is planted by and is confident in the government to take care of it. In fact, it isn’t planted by ANY person. BLESSED IS THE MAN WHO BELIEVES AND TRUSTS AND RELIES ON THE LORD! Who do I rely on? THE LORD!! Glory to God!! Then when trouble comes and the world is in turmoil I am NOT ANXIOUS AND FULL OF CARE! Why not? Because God will cause me to be nourished and flourish and I will continue to yield fruit. That is fruit in the spirit and fruit in this natural life. What is fruit for? To give nourishment, vitamins, and sustenance! When the world is in a panic over current events and times, we as Christians, are at peace and flourishing spiritually, emotionally, and physically! Oh, how true that greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world!
No matter what you see around you today, dear reader, know God is nourishing you as you spend time in His presence and His Word and He will cause you to flourish. We are no longer living a natural life when we are in Christ, but supernatural!! Go in peace and joy and minister what the Holy Spirit will do not only for you, but for others! Blessings to you, my precious reader!! See you soon!!
