I am a published contributor to a number of other blogs and a published author. My first book “A Joyful Life Made Simple” is out and ready for purchase. You will find it on amazon.com. and bn.com! It is a paperback and an e-book.
I began blogging after my mother’s open heart surgery to repair a heart valve and to stop atrial fiberlation. I didn’t have enough room to post everything on Facebook so I researched “How to blog” and, voila’ here I am. I am so thankful to God that my mother pulled through and feels better than I have seen her feel in many years! One night as I thought about this I just felt compelled to write it down. The next thing I knew I was blogging daily!
I live in Texas and I am a retired school teacher. I have a wonderful husband, and two grown children. My son graduated from RHEMA BIBLE INSTITUTE in Broken Arrow, OK with his degree in Pastoral Ministry and my daughter graduated from Texas A&M in December of 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences (cum laude). I have a Chihuahua named Gracie who I love as though she were a human child! She is one of my greatest blessings! I write a great deal about her!
I love to encourage people!! I love to see people happy and to make them laugh. My husband calls me Lucy Ricardo! I have to admit I am rather clumsy and the funniest things happen to me! Keep reading and you’ll see what I mean. My daughter said nobody would believe it, but she can swear to it that every “experience” is true; they have been her life!
I am truly appreciative of all who read my blog! I know in this busy life your time is truly precious! I wish you every blessing, dear reader!
Introducing Deborah Smith she is Simply Amazing
Thank you for your interest in my story. I have decided to share my journey with the hope that you will be encouraged and find Faith, Hope, & Love for your own journey. I try to be as candid as possible which at times may seem like a little too much information, but I have been amazed at how my honesty has ministered to so many.
I grew up in small town Texas. Life was very uneventful and routine. One of the most exciting things in our town was when the high school football team would make a run to the state play offs. Everyone knows everyone in Silsbee, TX and most of us are related in one way or another. I grew up with an amazing family: Mama, Daddy, and three older brothers. I am the baby, and the only girl. I grew up in the Baptist church and was raised to love God. At an early age I felt the Lord call me into missions. Little did I know that I would one day I would live many years in Africa with my husband and youngest daughter.
My husband, Jerry & I have been married for over 20 years now. He is the most perfect example of Jesus I have ever seen. I have two daughters, Haeley and Arden. Haeley is married to a wonderful, Godly man, Joel. Arden is a senior in high school. We have a family in Kenya who we still love and support and pray one day will be with us here in the states. We have an amazing life. We are so blessed.
In December 2013 I was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer. What a shocking turn of events! Since then I have learned more about the character and nature of God than I ever thought possible. I have learned that in my weakness His strength is made perfect. I am so thankful for this journey. It is my greatest desire that this journey not be in vain, but that God will be glorified even in this most difficult time.
As you share this journey of life with me please feel free to laugh, cry, scream, shout, and share. Please be encouraged. Please allow yourself to trust that His ways are perfect. Most importantly, please remember that God is Good and He does all things well.
