Last night was a difficult night for me. Gracie was sick, praise God she is better! I looked at properties with not much to choose from, and exhaustion without sleep seemed to permeate me.
Today, as I had my prayer time, the Lord led me to call Kenneth Copeland Ministries for prayer about the new house. We have partnered with Kenneth Copeland for over 20 years now. We have seen the miraculous things God has done with that ministry and through it.
I googled the phone number and called. When the phone call was over I happened to look and saw a daily devotional that caught my eye. I heard the Lord say, “Read this today…it is for you.” When I saw what it was, I got a bit excited. It was about our covenant of blessing with God!!! That is exactly what God has taught me and has had me writing on lately. Coincidence? I think not since the Bible says there are no coincidences with God!! Here it is! I pray it blesses you as it did me!!
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son.
– John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave…and He gave…and He gave.
That is the message the Bible brings us from beginning to end. It sounds simple enough. Yet few of us really comprehend it.
We can understand the idea of a God of power. We can understand a God who desires to be served. But an Almighty God who loves us so much that He desires, above all, to give to us? That can be hard to believe.
For thousands of years, God has worked to drop the revelation of His love into the hearts of men. He’s made loving promises of blessing and protection. But He’s always faced that same obstacle–human beings who just couldn’t bring themselves to believe those promises were true.
The story of Abram is a perfect example. He wasn’t accustomed to the idea of a God who gives. After all, he’d grown up as a worshiper of the moon, and the moon had certainly never seemed interested in doing anything for him. Then he encountered El Shaddai, the greatest Being of all. The one Almighty God. And the first thing this El Shaddai wanted to do was give to him.
God’s promises so astounded Abram that he couldn’t believe them. “Lord,” he asked, “how can I know I’m really going to receive these things?” (Gen. 15:8).
Do you know how God answered him? By cutting a blood covenant with him. That covenant settled forever any question Abram could ever have about God’s love and loyalty. Once blood had been shed, he knew God meant what He said.
God did the same thing for you. He cut a blood covenant with you. And He sacrificed His own Son to do it. Jesus‘ broken body and shed blood have become the eternal proof of God’s love for you. Through Communion, He’s urged you to remember them again and again so that when your faith in His promises begins to waver, you “might have a strong consolation” (Heb. 6:18).
Get a revelation of God’s love for you by meditating on the covenant He’s made with you. Get out the bread and the cup. Go before the Lord with them and take Communion thinking about the body and blood of Jesus that enables you to be a blood-covenant member of the family of Almighty God. Let them settle forever the question of God’s love for you. You’ll never again have to doubt His promises once you believe in His love.

And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. Deuteronomy 28:1-68
I could literally laugh out loud now. I guarantee you God has a sense of humor! I have sold my house, and we are living temporarily in a travel trailer. We are looking for another home and there isn’t a prospect in sight, and the Lord has me writing on ‘The Blessing’! Now tell me God doesn’t know how to make us laugh!
For about two years, I tried to really study out the blessing of Abraham. I knew as God’s children we were under that same covenant of blessing, but I really didn’t fully know what all it entailed, nor could I fully explain it. I tried to study it in depth but it was as though the timing was always off. I would pick up my study materials and I just could not stick with them. I just seemed led in another direction every single time.
Since our house sold, the days after are now turning into weeks and I have needed this knowledge to keep my faith up! I will never lie to you, dear reader. I did cry a few tears tonight, but praise God for hubby who spoke the word to me and I felt myself rallying again in the Spirit!
I have read Deuteronomy 28. It is the blessing God spoke upon Abraham. What is so marvelous is the fact it is the same blessing we as Christians live under as well. We don’t always see the effects of it in every Christian’s life, because it is not known by all Christians. God has a full account of all good things that are yours for the asking and receiving! You can’t withdraw from an account that is in your name if you don’t realize it exist.
It is as if a parent or grandparent opened a savings account for their child or grandchild. Years can go by and steadily that person deposits money into that account for future use. If the child never becomes privy to the fact they have money in this account, they will never be able to withdraw from it or benefit from it.
God will not and has not left us in the dark and He has not hidden information from us. It is all in His last ‘Will and Testament’. That ‘Will and Testament’ is the word of God! If we don’t know what it says, we can never lay claim to what it says we can and do have!
Do you know the blessing of Abraham spans the entire Bible? For God to say something over and over, He meant for us to take it and take it seriously! He doesn’t give false hope nor does He give empty promises! Let’s take an in depth look at what God says about living in the blessing!!
In Genesis 12:2-3 and 13:2 God tells Abraham, “I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing ; and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all families of the earth be BLESSED….And Abram was very rich….”
Now let us look in Galatians. Galatians 3:14 ” That THE BLESSING of Abraham might come on the Gentiles…” That is US!! The same blessing God promised Abraham, we now qualify for by receiving Jesus as our Saviour! We have become the seed of Abraham as well!
Look at Galatians 3:29 “And if ye be CHRIST’S, then are ye ABRAHAM’S SEED, AND HEIRS ACCORDING TO THE PROMISE.” This is shouting ground for me! What a mighty promise and what a precious and loving Father to plan this for ALL who would come to Him through Jesus! He truly is our Father!! Glory to God!!!
Galatians 3:7-9 tells us, “Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, ‘In thee shall ALL nations be BLESSED. So then they which be of faith are BLESSED with faithful Abraham.”
THE BLESSING, is the gospel, the good news!! Verses 13-14 tells us, ” Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us; for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree; THAT THE BLESSING of Abraham might come on the Gentiles THROUGH JESUS CHRIST; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” Verses 26, 29 “For ye are all the children of God BY FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST….And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
Now when people ask you how you are, you can say, BLESSED!!” and know why you are saying it and just what you are BLESSED with! We will get deeper into the blessing tomorrow. For now, I want this to sink into my brain very, very well and into yours, too! Isn’t it good when we find out just who we really are and we didn’t have to get in a sailboat and sail around the world in less than a year to do it! The things of God are so simple…we complicate them far too much!
You are blessed, dear reader! I will see you soon!!

New King James Version (NKJV)
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.
For those who have read my blog for any length of time, you know I have a Chihuahua named Gracie. Gracie is my baby! She knows it, too. When I pick her up and love on her, she nestles into my neck and always puts her arm around my neck as if to hug me. She gives me kisses and then cuddles into my neck, again.
I love Gracie and I am always talking about some cute thing she has done that day, because Gracie does cute things every day! I watch her and repeatedly I will say to my husband, “Oh, baby look! Isn’t that the cutest thing you have ever seen?? Isn’t she so precious?”
Gracie sleeps with us. I usually go to bed first and read until hubby is ready for the night. Gracie goes with me. She finds her ‘spot’ under all the blankets and snuggles as close to me as she can possibly get. When hubby starts to get in the bed, I hold my hand out so he doesn’t accidentally put any weight on Gracie whereby possibly hurting her. I always say the same thing, “Watch out for the ‘baby’.” You would think we actually had a newborn child in the bed!!
Gracie isn’t fed just any food. I buy special gourmet food for her. It is full of vitamins and minerals, and there are no ‘byproducts’ that can harm her! I research what natural foods are good for her and I know exactly what should be added to her diet to optimize her health! I give her vegetables that are full of antioxidants, and fruits that keep her kidney function at its best and fights cancers as well as benefits her cardiovascular system, eyesight, and keeps her from getting arthritis as she ages. I have researched what is best for Gracie from her head to her paws!
We live in Texas and have experienced an unusually cold winter. I knew it was coming. I bought Gracie sweaters, fleece pajamas, and fleece throws to ensure she was warm! I am not a morning person, but when hubby leaves for work he puts Gracie on the couch and I cannot go back to sleep until I get up and check her fur to be sure she is warm and to be sure she is not shivering.
Now, I have said all of this to make one point…if I love Gracie, a dog, as I do…I love her so much I go out of my way to see to it she eats the best, wears the best, stays in the best health, is happy, and knows she is adored, how much more so does God do this for us, His children??
Why do I do all of this for Gracie? Because I love her with all of my heart!! She is the apple of my eye! She loves me unconditionally and I feel the same about her! For all of her love and loyalty, I protect my sweet puppy with all I have! There isn’t ANYTHING Gracie will ever be without if it is in my power to give it to her!!!! Are you not more than a dog to our Heavenly Father?? He did not even spare the life of His own Son to call YOU and me His children!
Gracie doesn’t sit and worry if she will have food available to her all day, every day. She is not worried about where she will sleep every night; She has the best spot in the house! She doesn’t cower in fear when I approach her, fearful I no longer love her, or that I will punish her for something! She runs to greet me because she knows my arms are ready to gently hold her and love her! Why do we do this with God?
Do we believe for one second God will ever let us go hungry, cold, destitute, and devoid of anything that is necessary to life? If He watches over the birds of the air, will He not all the more take care and bless us?? The birds don’t worry. They fly and seem to know exactly where to light to find food and shelter. Are you not more than they? Will God not also provide for us, super abundantly, above all we could even ask?
How anyone could question the goodness of God or the fact it is His will to bless and give us all good things is truly beyond my comprehension! It literally defies what the Bible says. God not only wills to do good toward us, but fully intends to bless those who are His own!
Have a good rest tonight, dear reader, for your tomorrows are truly taken care of! You are loved and watched over by God, Himself with an everlasting love no person and no thing can separate you from! Know, even though you may not see it all now, God has everything you need on the way. Praise Him and trust Him in the wait.
I know I am not the only one God has promised great things to. God’s great pleasure is to bless His children and the Bible tells us this in multiple places. I read someone’s post on Facebook not long ago that stated God was not in the blessing business anymore. He was much more concerned with other things and not all Christians lived or would ever live being blessed. Don’t you dare fall for that hogwash! God DOES want us to be blessed, BUT He doesn’t want it to be the focus of our walk with Him!
The Bible doesn’t say money is the root of all evil, but the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. Notice the focus of a person’s heart in this case is the money, not God! When someone’s focus shifts from God and loving Him to money and all it can buy and the false sense of power it can give, it has become evil to this person. When we seek Him first and His righteousness, then nothing is wrong with not only living in the blessing but God expects us to expect to live blessed!
It tells us in Deuteronomy 28:3 it tells us, “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country.” Notice God is saying this. He was talking to the children of Israel about what He would do if they honored Him and didn’t go the way of heathen countries with their heathen traditions and cultures.
This same chapter goes on to say they would be cursed if they forsook God and His ways! God is always at the forefront of prosperity. To be blessed by God, you have to delight yourself in HIM. Your primary delight and satisfaction should not be found in your job, your titles, your accolades, but in Him! This keeps our desires and our egos in proper perspective! It keeps us seeking God’s interest, and not our own!
Galatians 3:13-14 tells us we are under the BLESSING of Abraham. It says, “ Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written,“Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”[h]), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”
We are not cursed, but blessed because Jesus took the curse upon Himself, when He died for us so that we COULD be blessed! Why would Jesus die for something God never intended to fulfill? God never would have stood by and let His Son suffer the torment He suffered to deny us anything that was accomplished through that death.
Blessing literally means ‘to empower’. The blessing empowers us to be saved, healed, delivered, and to prosper. In 3 John 1:2 it says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” God comes right out and says it is His will for us to prosper and be well, AS OUR SOULS PROSPER. Our souls are our mind, will, and emotions. It is spiritual maturity in the mind, if you will.
As we grow in God, seek His will, love others as Christ loved us, and are faithful to all He has called us to, we will be blessed (empowered) with every good thing. God said He would not withhold any good thing from them who walk uprightly! Psalm 84:11 “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
The message of ‘The Blessing’ has been taken out of context and has literally been twisted into oversized houses, fleets of cadillacs, and designer purses. The Blessing does indeed make one rich, but not just rich in a monetary sense, but rich in wisdom, health, peace, righteousness, love, and joy! We are to seek God, not the department where designer purses hang! Don’t pull this message out of context and make it into a wish list you would hand a Santa Claus! At the same time, don’t sit around and say, “Well, Mom and Dad never had anything but we were happy. Why should I be any different?” If that is how you want to live, you can. But it isn’t how you HAVE to live!
God wants you to be filled with every good thing because when you have those things by obeying the word you bring glory and honor to Him! Expect to live in the black and not the red. Ask God to give you wisdom concerning finances, career moves, college degrees, and any thing else that comes to mind when praying concerning the blessing in your life. For goodness sake, don’t give up through unbelief the great things God has stored up for those who are called His children!
Google ‘the blessings of God’ and watch how many references pop up! Get your Bible and read the entire chapter it is mentioning. For scripture to be sound teaching it must be found in context and in at least three different places in the Bible!
Remember, dear reader, you are already blessed!! We will be learning how to walk more in the fullness of that blessing in the coming days!
If God had shown me my future I would have rolled with laughter!! Today, I live in a travel trailer. My husband and I sold our home of 25 years and we are off on a new journey. Where this journey is taking us remains to be seen.
I thought of Ree Drummond, the ‘Pioneer Woman‘. I LOVE her! When I first discovered her, I literally sat up all night and read every word she had written about her adventures with ‘Marlboro Man‘. I felt like a pioneer today and probably would have started a new blog about these new adventures with a title similar, but alas that name has been taken. Maybe I’ll do one called ‘Trailer Travelin’ Momma“. Cute, huh?
I lit a gas stove and lived to tell about it (the last time I got scared and hubby did it for me). I made “Momma’s Award Winning Chili” to go on hot dogs or Frito Pie. Not bad for someone who is in a room where there is a kitchen, booth dining table, and bedroom altogether! I have to admit, I was pretty proud of myself and it was fun.
I am no longer having hot flashes! My menopause seems to be completely cured!! It may be because it is 31 degrees outside and a furnace in a travel trailer isn’t quite like central air and heat. Nevertheless, I am quite comfortable! I am warm on my left side, where the furnace blows, and my right side feels frozen. I suppose that makes me just right down the middle! :)
I look back over my life. It has been a great one! My marriage to hubby has literally been one ‘I Love Lucy‘ episode after the other for 30 years now. We have two fantastic kids that I could not be more proud of. If I just had my high school figure, again my world would almost be perfect!
I never dreamed I could do half the things I have done. I have only been able to do them with God’s help, but I am in awe of the fact He had this planned for me all along. He has fueled my dreams with His word and brought them to pass through faith and trust. He amazes me to this day and I have served Him for 52 years!
I think of God and all the things He has done in my life and it gives me fresh courage for the unknown tomorrows. I know He has my new home and it is better than I can imagine. I know He has a purpose for hubby and me in helping and encouraging others. I think of the scripture where He states we would not have believed it had He told us it is so great! There again is my dream, and He is there building my faith and trust over and over!
This is the one time it is good to look back. Never look back at the negativity, but the mighty things God did when no one else bothered to look your way much less help you. Who could have known what a blessing that was! It made you depend on God, and it showed you He truly NEVER leaves us or forsakes us.
Tomorrow, Momma and I go and look at more houses. In the meantime, learning to squeeze groceries into a plywood ice chest will keep me preoccupied!
God bless you, dear reader! See you soon!
