I know I am not the only one God has promised great things to. God’s great pleasure is to bless His children and the Bible tells us this in multiple places. I read someone’s post on Facebook not long ago that stated God was not in the blessing business anymore. He was much more concerned with other things and not all Christians lived or would ever live being blessed. Don’t you dare fall for that hogwash! God DOES want us to be blessed, BUT He doesn’t want it to be the focus of our walk with Him!
The Bible doesn’t say money is the root of all evil, but the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. Notice the focus of a person’s heart in this case is the money, not God! When someone’s focus shifts from God and loving Him to money and all it can buy and the false sense of power it can give, it has become evil to this person. When we seek Him first and His righteousness, then nothing is wrong with not only living in the blessing but God expects us to expect to live blessed!
It tells us in Deuteronomy 28:3 it tells us, “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country.” Notice God is saying this. He was talking to the children of Israel about what He would do if they honored Him and didn’t go the way of heathen countries with their heathen traditions and cultures.
This same chapter goes on to say they would be cursed if they forsook God and His ways! God is always at the forefront of prosperity. To be blessed by God, you have to delight yourself in HIM. Your primary delight and satisfaction should not be found in your job, your titles, your accolades, but in Him! This keeps our desires and our egos in proper perspective! It keeps us seeking God’s interest, and not our own!
Galatians 3:13-14 tells us we are under the BLESSING of Abraham. It says, “ Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written,“Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”[h]), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”
We are not cursed, but blessed because Jesus took the curse upon Himself, when He died for us so that we COULD be blessed! Why would Jesus die for something God never intended to fulfill? God never would have stood by and let His Son suffer the torment He suffered to deny us anything that was accomplished through that death.
Blessing literally means ‘to empower’. The blessing empowers us to be saved, healed, delivered, and to prosper. In 3 John 1:2 it says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” God comes right out and says it is His will for us to prosper and be well, AS OUR SOULS PROSPER. Our souls are our mind, will, and emotions. It is spiritual maturity in the mind, if you will.
As we grow in God, seek His will, love others as Christ loved us, and are faithful to all He has called us to, we will be blessed (empowered) with every good thing. God said He would not withhold any good thing from them who walk uprightly! Psalm 84:11 “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
The message of ‘The Blessing’ has been taken out of context and has literally been twisted into oversized houses, fleets of cadillacs, and designer purses. The Blessing does indeed make one rich, but not just rich in a monetary sense, but rich in wisdom, health, peace, righteousness, love, and joy! We are to seek God, not the department where designer purses hang! Don’t pull this message out of context and make it into a wish list you would hand a Santa Claus! At the same time, don’t sit around and say, “Well, Mom and Dad never had anything but we were happy. Why should I be any different?” If that is how you want to live, you can. But it isn’t how you HAVE to live!
God wants you to be filled with every good thing because when you have those things by obeying the word you bring glory and honor to Him! Expect to live in the black and not the red. Ask God to give you wisdom concerning finances, career moves, college degrees, and any thing else that comes to mind when praying concerning the blessing in your life. For goodness sake, don’t give up through unbelief the great things God has stored up for those who are called His children!
Google ‘the blessings of God’ and watch how many references pop up! Get your Bible and read the entire chapter it is mentioning. For scripture to be sound teaching it must be found in context and in at least three different places in the Bible!
Remember, dear reader, you are already blessed!! We will be learning how to walk more in the fullness of that blessing in the coming days!
Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations…
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
But I said to you, “You will possess their land; I will give it to you as an inheritance, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am the LORD your God, who has set you apart from the nations.
Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him.
Do you ever feel lonely, isolated, alone? Do you ever wonder “where have all the people gone”? I think these are natural thoughts from time to time, but we need to think about the root of why we are thinking them, not trying to find the answer to the questions and the feelings they can bring.
When you are a Christian, finding the root of what you are thinking about and who the source of the thought is, is critical. Satan comes as an angel of light, and if we don’t put a hedge up around our minds and our thinking, he can easily come in appearing to be an innocent sheep, when he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing!
I had a pastor’s wife years ago who had struggled with her thought life. She was and is one of the wisest ladies I know. I have never seen anyone in my life hear from God as she does! How did she go from fighting tormenting thoughts to being a loving, praying powerhouse for God? She began to ask a simple question when thoughts began to flood her mind. That question was and still is, “Who’s talking?” When she began to take every single thought “captive” that didn’t bring her joy or honor and praise to God, she knew who the source of that thought was. Soon, she and the Holy Spirit were in control of her thinking and she hasn’t stopped propelling into the things of the spirit since.
Satan loves to come and tell you how useless you are, how nobody ever calls, how you are all by yourself, but have you ever stopped to wonder why you are really alone? Or could you be ‘set apart‘? I have found when I am having extended periods of ‘alone time’ it is because God wants me to be alone with Him. If I will go into prayer and praise during these times, I find there are mighty plans, purposes, and direction God is wanting to talk to me about. He is in the still small voice when we are “set apart” from the crowds, not in the noisy restaurants, shopping malls, or the movies where it is loud and we are concentrated on anything and everything but Him. When we realize we haven’t been left alone by friends and family, but we are being set apart from the crowds for prayer, our whole perspective changes on being by ourselves! We are never alone because God is with us, and that is when He is ready to have time with you!
Take advantage of these ‘set apart’ times, precious reader. This is where you get the ‘mind of Christ‘ and where the Holy Spirit will pray out vital things to your present and to you and your family’s future! You will actually become excited the phone DIDN’T ring, because you know now what that means. A blessing and the instruction you need to have it fully is coming your way!
God bless you, dear reader!! I will see you soon! Simply, Juliana
I have heard Joyce Meyer say many times how we will go around and around the mountain until we learn our lesson. Then we will cross the mountain into our ‘promised land’ when we learn the lesson and move on.
There has been a mountain in my life for so many years, I really don’t remember how long! As I look back, this particular mountain (I’m not going to tell you specifically what it is…lol…not telling on myself this time!) has been in my way since I was a young woman. One day I began to really wonder about it. Why did it always seem to crop up?
I went to the Lord with it because, frankly, I was sick of it! The Lord spoke to me the reason satan always used it was to get me off focus and to prevent me from moving into something He had planned for me. Seriously?????? I write about NOT doing this all the time! How could I have been so foolish as to not see this in my OWN life??? The answer is easy…I was concentrating on the wrong thing! Again, I write on this, too. Yes, I had to shake my own head at myself!
I learned our understanding can actually be clouded and brought out of focus with thoughts. Many times we like to blame the devil for them. He is responsible for some of them, but we are just as responsible because we let him pour them in and then we build on them.
Have y0u ever seen someone have a pity party? Usually there is something unfortunate that has happened, but they will take that isolated event of misfortune and turn it into a lifetime of woes! Who did that? Well, the devil could have brought the misfortune, but we chose to look back through life at everything that didn’t go just like we thought it should have and, BAM, you are in a full fledged, crocodile tear pity party! What makes it worse is when friends and family remind us of how blessed we are now. Then we get mad and decide to isolate ourselves because we are looking for sympathy NOT reassurances and reminders of how good God really has been to us! I mean that kind of crashes a pity party!!
I finally got sick of the whole pity party trip! I had, had enough of the scenery of this mountain and when I got to that point, God opened my eyes to what was REALLY happening in the spirit! When He did, I knew what I needed to do. I knew it was something I could overcome, because I saw satan’s antics and I knew how untrue they were. I saw the “fork” in the road and what would happen with the road I took. There was a good road where God would have me go, and there was a road of self will that led to nothing but more misery. Hmmm….do we really need to think about this one??
Thank God I saw the light and I don’t say that jokingly! I really saw it! I put my foot down and this was one time I said a few words to the devil! “Forget it! I know what you are doing and there is no way I am putting up with this anymore. Do y0u honestly think for one second I would be stupid enough to listen to your foolishness and let you ruin the rest of my life?? I rebuke you, satan, in the mighty name of Jesus! And don’t come back with this again! God directs my life and no one and nothing else does!!” That was the end of the MOUNTAIN EXPERIENCE!! Oh, yes, it was that easy! I literally felt it when it happened. It was as if I had run a marathon and I had WON THE WHOLE THING!!! I felt the exhileration of victory because I knew it was over and I had defeated, through Christ Jesus, something that had tried to control me almost my whole life!
Freedom feels good, friend…so does moving forward! It isn’t fun staying stuck in the mud. You get hungry, dirty, and time and others are passing you by. Are you going around and around a mountain? Sick of it? You are in a good place! Here is a prayer that will get you out of the mess and into the promise. I pray this straight from the word and I have saved the best for last. When you pray this, put YOUR name in it and your loved ones names. I promise you a spirit of Revelation WILL come upon you and them. When you finally get REVELATION, it is all over but the crying….this time it will be the devil crying instead of you!! Try it! You have nothing to lose!
Amplified Bible (AMP)
17 [For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him,
18 By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones),
19 And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength,
20 Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places],
21 Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and in this world, but also in the age and the world which are to come.
22 And He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church],
23 Which is His body, the fullness of Him Who fills all in all [for in that body lives the full measure of Him Who makes everything complete, and Who fills everything everywhere with Himself].
God bless you, precious reader! Go forward filled with the light of Christ knowing He, Himself makes His home within y0u if you are born again! If you will listen and watch, He will show you all you need to know for successful living! What a glorious promise! See you next time!! Remember, JESUS IS LORD!!!
This scripture has run through my mind for three days. The word that strikes me more than any is “amid”. Amid…in the midst of, while the war is raging, during the trial, not after…AMID, ALL these things we are MORE than conquerors….
As I pondered this scripture, I thought of the author of Romans and what had to be happening to him as he wrote it. Paul was not imprisoned at this time but had been imprisoned earlier for the cause of Christ. I don’t know of anyone who went through more persecution than Jesus other than Paul!
Paul suffered so many things. Paul suffered shipwreck, snake bite, stoning, being beaten, locked in stocks where his legs were held out straight and his back was bent and his hands locked into place at his feet for hours, possibly days at a time! Yet, Paul could write when he wasn’t in stocks, in the midst of it all, he and the church were more than conquerors! Amazing!
The prison systems we have today are no picnic but they are governed and have set regulations so they are not considered inhumane, but still carry a definite punishment. In Paul’s day there were no regulations. Prisons were a horror. You can imagine the living conditions. No formal plumbing, stench and bacteria surrounded the prisoners. There was no health department to make sure the bacteria didn’t make it into the food they were served. Disease and death were all around because the conditions were so deplorable. If the absolute filth didn’t get you, the prisoners would. During the time of Nero when arenas were filled with people excited to see Christians slaughtered and literally eaten alive by lions while Nero played his fiddle and as the crowds cheered, can you only imagine what they thought should be punishable by imprisonment. It had to be horrendous.
Romans was not written while Paul was in prison but at the end of his third missionary journey. Paul had known persecution and prison before he wrote this letter to the Romans, and as we know, would face death for teaching and proclaiming the gospel. Yet Paul still wrote “amid all these things….” Many of us get upset over such small and trivial things such as when we get home and realize we forgot a grocery item and have to turn around and go back and get it! Or when someone says something we don’t like or care to hear.
As I thought of this scripture and all that Paul had gone through with such a good attitude, I was headed to the city. This particular day had been a hard one for me. I began to compare my “hard day” with Paul’s life of “hard days”. Still, nonetheless, it was a day I was ready to put behind me!
I was crossing a bridge that brings me to another town before I get to the city and something caught my eye. I looked up and the sky was particularly cloudy. A cold front was heading our way and rain clouds had rolled in, but in the MIDST of those clouds there was a hole in the middle of the clouds. It was ever so slight but through that hole came literal beams of light!! God spoke to my heart and said, “No matter how dark it seems, the sun is still shining just as brightly as ever behind the darkness and there will be a break in the clouds!”
I went about another ten miles and looked up again. In the midst of all the storm clouds, in one place, they had totally broken and the sun was visible with all of its light! In that particular spot, instead of dreariness there was utter radiance as though it were spring instead of fall.
That is how it is in our lives. When our health seems to be faltering, when a loved one leaves and our world seems to be crashing all around us, when Christmas is fast approaching and the company hands out pink slips, when you feel as though you are facing the world alone and have no idea where help will come from this time, the SON is still shining and a break will come in the clouds of your life! You and I are MORE than conquerors in the great big middle of it all! How? Through Christ Jesus Who gives us a SURPASSING victory! We don’t barely make it through! We make it through and gain ground because of Jesus and what HE has done!
The fight is not ours, but the rest from battling is. The victory is not ours to be won, but to be taken hold of and received! How do we do this? By resting in faith in God’s word and His integrity to keep it! By knowing what HE says about our situations and the promise He has made to ALWAYS deliver us out of them to a higher and blessed place! Just as it says in our scripture, we are “conquerors THROUGH” Christ Jesus who loves us!
Love always wins…always! No matter what the situation you are facing, this time is no different! God has made a covenant (a binding contract) with us that cannot be broken by Him. He tells us in His Word, when the sun fails to shine and the moon fails to appear, when night no longer turns to day and day to night, only then can that covenant be broken. That is a stout and remaining promise! Did the sun shine today? Did night come? If the answer is yes, and we know it is, then the promise holds! You hold to the promise, too!
Blessings to you, precious reader! I will see you soon!
