Feeding your spirit, soul, and body!

Declutter!

How one small family of four can accumulate so much I do not know, but accumulate we did!  We sold our home  we have been in since 1991.  We raised our children in this house.  It is full of wonderful memories.

We got the word we are going to ‘close’ on a certain day.  We relinquish our home the same day as well.  All of this took place in less than a month.  I decided I better get myself in gear and started packing a week ago.  Overwhelmed doesn’t begin to describe how I felt when I began to look at all we had stuffed into this house.

As I packed the last of it today, the Lord spoke to me and said, “This is what happens to your mind as well, when you don’t spend quiet, listening time with Me.  Experiences in the world drop one little thing after another until your mind is so cluttered with junk, I have no room in your mind anymore and you can’t think MY thoughts which are of deliverance and joy.”

It is true.  We make time to think about what has happened in the past, what is happening today, how we should have handled it then, what we should have said about things today, and we completely leave Jesus out of the picture.  It isn’t long until all those ‘experiences’ replace the word of God and His voice.

I have seen people lose their peace, direction, and hope in life by trying to figure and reason it all out.  They look at others who have been through similar things, and how they handled it.  They go and find ‘groups’ who talk and talk and talk about their bad experiences over and over and over and nothing changes except they have someone who understands what they have been through, but cannot tell them one thing about how to leave it behind and go forward into a glorious future, free from the shackles of things past.

Don’t get me wrong, these ‘groups’ have their place and I am not against them!  But, when your dependence is on a program instead of God to deliver you, you have put your full confidence in the arm of the flesh and flesh will always disappoint you!  Only God can give you eternal peace and deliverance in your mind.

Can you imagine how much ‘clean up’ time it takes when we have ignored God and instead given full attention to what we are allowing in our thought life by meditating on things instead of His word for years and years?  We depend on our five senses to lead us instead of depending on God.

God and His ways will never make sense to your feelings, but  He WILL make sense to your spirit if you are born again because you are connected to Him as an unborn child is to its mother in the womb.  She is the life line of that baby.  Her nutrients are the baby’s nutrients.  Her health directly affects the life of the unborn child.  You should be so centered on God and His word, any thing that is contrary or not in agreement with God’s way of being and thinking will become foreign to you and you will reject it.  You have His mind because you are connected directly to Him in the spirit!

God tells us not to lean to our own understanding, but in all of our ways acknowledge Him and He will direct our paths(Proverbs 3).  His mind becomes our mind, His peace is our peace, His joy is our joy, and we rest from struggling.  We no longer struggle with the past because it has been replaced with Gods‘s peace and His vision of the future.  We know good things are ahead because there is no fear of evil when we are in Him. There is no fear in love and God is love!  (1 John 4:18) We have full confidence all things are working together for our good, according to Romans 8:28.   We no longer concentrate on what was, but instead we set our minds on what is and what is ahead!

People or circumstances whether past, present, or possible future should not be the thermostat of our moods nor should they have the ability to alter our state of mind.  Set your mind on the things above and keep them set (Colossians 3:2).  When you do this, nothing will be able to disturb you or move you off  your peace and tranquility that can only be found in God!

Rescuing Me

Matthew 6

Amplified Bible (AMP)

25 Therefore I tell you, stop being [v]perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing?

26 Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they?

27 And who of you by worrying and being anxious can add one unit of measure (cubit) to his stature or to the [w]span of his life?

28 And why should you be anxious about clothes? Consider the lilies of the field and [x]learn thoroughly how they grow; they neither toil nor spin.

29 Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his [y]magnificence (excellence, dignity, and grace) was not arrayed like one of these.

30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and green and tomorrow is tossed into the furnace, will He not much more surely clothe you, O you of little faith?

31 Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear?

32 For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all.

33 But seek ([z]aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness ([aa]His way of doing and being right), and then all these things [ab]taken together will be given you besides.

34 So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble.

On a night not too long ago my family was in the dining room playing a card game after supper.  Suddenly, Gracie our chihuahua,  began to run to the back door barking and was jumping up and down.  I had no idea what was wrong with her, but I knew something was different.

I have a door and then I have a glass door in front of the regular door.  The “regular” door was open and you could see out through the all glass door.  I heard my daughter say, “Look!!  A kitten!”  Sure enough there was a little gold kitten mewing at the door, pawing the door to get in.  I am allergic to cats.  I am not slightly allergic, but I am break out in hives, wheeze, and my eyes swell shut allergic to cats!  As I watched the kitten desperately trying to get in my heart melted with compassion for it.

There was a storm approaching this particular night and lightening lit up the sky.  You could tell the little thing was scared and hungry.  Immediately, my daughter and our friends went outside and I made a mixture of bread and milk.  When I went outside there was another cat a little older than the kitten and they devoured the contents of the dish.  I went back inside and found a can of chicken and fed them the contents of that as well.  We managed to get them under a shed we have, along with the food.  I only saw the kitten and the cat one more time and they were gone.

How I longed to rescue that kitten!  I wanted to bring it into my home, give it a roof, make sure it had warm blankets and a bed.  My heart broke for it knowing how starved it was and frightened of the approaching storm.  As I thought of this, the Lord reminded me of how He felt the same about me.  His love and compassion toward me is innumerably greater than what I felt for the kitten.  He cannot and never will turn His head from me or leave me to fend for myself or without hope.   He takes care of me with great promise and with great care!  Oh, how God loves us all!! How He longs to rescue us from all trouble!  If my heart is moved by an animal, God’s heart is certainly moved by the hurts, ills, and desperation of the human race.

His provision was and is Jesus!  Jesus took our suffering, our hunger, our ills, our emotional hurts, our lack and our approaching storms and paid for them with His blood.  All we have to do is trust He loves us with a great and undying love and longs to extend that love to us through His saving grace!

Do you know Jesus?  Do you know you are loved and never without hope?  Do you know Jesus waits for you to call His name so He can show Himself mighty, loving, and  compassionate on your behalf and in whatever you are going through?  He is!  Call out to Him today!  Give your heart to Him and see Him work wonders in you and for you!  Let Jesus rescue you.

Blessings, precious reader!  I will see you soon!

Bible Verse of the Day-Charm is Deceptive

charm is deceptive

Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised.        Proverbs 31:30 HCSB

Happy Mother’s Day!

proverbs 31 mother's day

 Christian Devotions

I think, as all Christians do, of the Proverbs 31 woman on Mother’s Day.  I am so appreciative of my mother!  I am so grateful to God that she is with me for another Mother’s Day after almost losing her this year!   My mother reminds me of the Proverbs 31 woman.  Her love for her family is unfailing and her wisdom, unending!  For all you do as a mother, a wife, a woman you are appreciated!  I love you, Momma!  How God has blessed me with you!!  Happy Mother’s Day to all moms!

Proverbs 31

Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

The Words of Lemuel

31 The words of King Lemuel, an oracle[a] that his mother taught him:

2 What should I say, my son? What, son of my womb? What, son of my vows? 3 Don’t spend your energy on women or your efforts on those who destroy kings. 4 It is not for kings, Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine or for rulers to desire beer. 5 Otherwise, they[b] will drink, forget what is decreed, and pervert justice for all the oppressed.[c] 6 Give beer to one who is dying and wine to one whose life is bitter. 7 Let him drink so that he can forget his poverty and remember his trouble no more. 8 Speak up[d] for those who have no voice,[e] for the justice of all who are dispossessed.[f] 9 Speak up,[g] judge righteously, and defend the cause of[h] the oppressed and needy.

In Praise of a Capable Wife

10 Who can find a capable wife?[i] She is far more precious than jewels.[j] 11 The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will not lack anything good. 12 She rewards him with good, not evil, all the days of her life. 13 She selects wool and flax and works with willing hands. 14 She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from far away. 15 She rises while it is still night and provides food for her household and portions[k] for her female servants. 16 She evaluates a field and buys it; she plants a vineyard with her earnings.[l] 17 She draws on her strength[m] and reveals that her arms are strong. 18 She sees that her profits are good, and her lamp never goes out at night. 19 She extends her hands to the spinning staff, and her hands hold the spindle. 20 Her hands reach[n] out to the poor, and she extends her hands to the needy. 21 She is not afraid for her household when it snows, for all in her household are doubly clothed.[o] 22 She makes her own bed coverings; her clothing is fine linen and purple. 23 Her husband is known at the city gates, where he sits among the elders of the land. 24 She makes and sells linen garments; she delivers belts[p] to the merchants. 25 Strength and honor are her clothing, and she can laugh at the time to come. 26 She opens her mouth with wisdom and loving instruction[q] is on her tongue. 27 She watches over the activities of her household and is never idle.[r] 28 Her sons rise up and call her blessed. Her husband also praises her: 29 “Many women[s] are capable, but you surpass them all!” 30 Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised. 31 Give her the reward of her labor,[t] and let her works praise her at the city gates.
