23 And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude],
Before I get to the Bible Verse of the day, I need to let you know of a situation in my family. Tonight, we heard on the news the United States Government may be shut down all the way into December. This was important news for us because my husband is a Federal Agent and is still laid off from when the shut down originally began almost two weeks ago. He has been looking for work and continues to do so, since we are going without his paycheck while this goes on.
I began to think about how God blessed us with some savings but that savings is due to run out soon. I began to think about it being the middle of October and Christmas is just around the corner. I began to see in my mind our tree up, but it bare of gifts for the first time in my life, but more painfully, in the lifetime of my children! Suddenly, I caught myself as tears sprang to my eyes! These thoughts were not in line with what the Word of God says!
The Word says if I tithe and give, and we do, pressed down and shaken together would men give unto our bosom. Then a scripture hit me I had not thought of for this situation. It is found in Ephesians and it is powerful and true and appropriate for what my family has been put through by greedy men and women with no thought of anyone but themselves! Hear me…God will not allow His children to be starved, mistreated, nor will He allow for hidden agendas and the lining of pockets to continue at their expense! HE will take care of His children and who can stand against God, Himself??
Ephesians 1:17-23 says…
17 [For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him,
18 By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones),
19 And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength,
20 Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places],
21 Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and in this world, but also in the age and the world which are to come.
22 And He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church],
23 Which is His body, the fullness of Him Who fills all in all [for in that body lives the full measure of Him Who makes everything complete, and Who fills everything everywhere with Himself].
Oh, glory to God!! God has a plan, He has made a way of escape, He will show Himself mighty and no one will be able to deny it was our FATHER GOD and JESUS, our Lord and Savior, King of kings, JESUS LORD OF ALL!!!
God’s Word is not without power and it WILL accomplish ALL it has been set forth to do (Isaiah 55:11)! Thank God our lives are not in the hands of unwise and greedy people, but in the hands of the Ruler of heaven and earth!!
20 Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us….
I have missed you, my precious readers! I haven’t had a chance to really write in a while. It took ten hours to get here but it was well worth the wait. We have come to visit our son, who is the “Young People’s Pastor” in Jonesboro, Arkansas. This part makes me cry, but happy tears. When I first saw him all I could do was throw my arms around him…I had no words, which is quite unusual for me!
I look back at his life. I remember him in high school struggling to find his “place”. I remember in his college years, struggling to know truth, and in the process I saw him not only find truth but gain wisdom beyond his years. As I watched this warring within him, I prayed as I have never prayed before! We both grew in that time, my growth was in believing and learning to pray effectively.
I listened to him last night tell us, with excitement, all that God is doing in their church. He is so proud of his pastors and the vision the church has and are working together in unity to fulfill what God has given them! “The Power Team” just left and, pardon the pun, everyone is “pumped”! Tonight we will have flag football and movie night on the church grounds. I am excited to see their facility!
I have to cut it short, because hubby and Kate are waiting for me. God is so amazing! He truly goes beyond ALL you could ever think to imagine to ask! Blessings, precious reader!! Simply, Juliana
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self control. ~Galatians 5:22
The three things that will likely trip you up more than anything online will likely be your tongue, your temper, and intolerance for other people’s views, tastes, principles, beliefs, and behaviors. Here are 30 biblical truths to help you stay focused and call on heaven in a minute. Keep them handy. Don’t just read them, mediate on them, pray about them and ask God to make them personal and real to your specific situation.
Tongue: What you say will echo throughout eternity, so getting control over your tongue (words) online (and elsewhere) is critical.
Temper: If unchecked, your temper will cause you to sin, spark division, and destroy opportunities to love and minister to others.
Tolerance: Since the Internet is buzzing with 1.6 million people a day, chances are your level of tolerance will be challenged around every corner. Extend acceptance to those who hold different beliefs than you. Tolerance does not mean you’ve compromised, it simply means you are gracious.
What area do you need to work on as you connect with others throughout the day?
Post/Tweet this today: Tame your tongue. Tackle your temper. Take down intolerance. #LiveSticky
7 [Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is.8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8 Amplified Bible
33 Therefore having been exalted [a]to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth (as in water) this which you both see and hear. Acts 2:33
18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit. Ephesians 5:18 Amplified Bible
There are several places in the Word that the Holy Spirit is referred to as a type and shadow of water. I have listed only a few. It is so important to read the Word, meditate on it, and let the Holy Spirit bring revelation of it into our lives. We are told in Ephesians to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. Every single day, we need to be “refilled” from the day before. The more you give out, the more you need to take in! This is especially true of when I write. God cannot bring to my remembrance and use what I have no idea of. I have to be refreshed in order to bring forth a devotional that is not just necessary for me, but something others can glean from as well! I have to remain “full” of the Holy Spirit, my teacher, Whom I cannot do without!!
Notice in the scripture where manna from heaven is talked about. That manna was good for only one day. The next day they had to gather fresh manna all over again. It is the same with our walk with God. Every single day, it is necessary to “fill” back up on His word and His presence. It is like a decanter that holds cooking oil. I am sure you have seen them in the “kitchen” aisle of almost any store. You fill the decanter up with the oil and you pour it out to use as you need to. It doesn’t take long until you have to “refill” the decanter. Why? Because you have “poured out of it to be used”. The Old Testament is full of “types and shadows”! In other words, it is an object lesson foretelling of things to come in the New Testament. You can find all sorts of symbolism in the Old Testament. Mannna is just one of many symbolic references of the Holy Spirit and our growth and sustenance in God!
Notice in the first scripture it says, [Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is.8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river… Where is this person planted? They are planted by the WATER which is symbolic of Jesus and the Holy Spirit! What is the result of being planted in this place? … it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit. Notice it doesn’t say it is planted by and be confident in the stock market. Notice it doesn’t say it is planted by and is confident in the economy. Notice it doesn’t say it is planted by and is confident in the government to take care of it. In fact, it isn’t planted by ANY person. BLESSED IS THE MAN WHO BELIEVES AND TRUSTS AND RELIES ON THE LORD! Who do I rely on? THE LORD!! Glory to God!! Then when trouble comes and the world is in turmoil I am NOT ANXIOUS AND FULL OF CARE! Why not? Because God will cause me to be nourished and flourish and I will continue to yield fruit. That is fruit in the spirit and fruit in this natural life. What is fruit for? To give nourishment, vitamins, and sustenance! When the world is in a panic over current events and times, we as Christians, are at peace and flourishing spiritually, emotionally, and physically! Oh, how true that greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world!
No matter what you see around you today, dear reader, know God is nourishing you as you spend time in His presence and His Word and He will cause you to flourish. We are no longer living a natural life when we are in Christ, but supernatural!! Go in peace and joy and minister what the Holy Spirit will do not only for you, but for others! Blessings to you, my precious reader!! See you soon!!
