As for man…as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. Psalm 103:15 Amplified Bible
I had a wonderful Mother’s Day! I hope you did, too! My family sent me flowers, took me to my favorite restaurant to eat.
I got the phone call every mother dreams of getting from my son, who told me how much he loves me and that he thinks I am the best mother in the world and how much he appreciates me! Well, I’m glad he thinks so at least.
My daughter heard me mention one time after a commercial I would like to try an “Edible Arrangement” and flew home from church, just to go to the city to pick it up fresh! She then posted on Facebook poems about what a Godly mother she has. I cried tears of joy over the love my children have for me, and that they feel as they do! My husband gave me gorgeous flowers, two beautiful cards…one from him and one from our chihuahua
My brother and his beautiful family came in for a surprise visit and we had a wonderful time. My, how my nieces are growing up far too fast!
I think the biggest highlight of my day though was the fact my mother is still alive and I was able to hug her and say, “I love you, Momma! Happy Mother’s Day!” That is the best thing that could ever happen to me on this special day! I am truly blessed!!
Have a good night, precious reader. I will “see” you tomorrow! Thank you for dropping by.
“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” Proverbs 31 KJV
I have been supremely blessed to have the best mother in the world! Of, course all of us that have had superb mothers feel this way, but I have a KNOWING of this to be so! My mother made sure I was raised in church, to love God, to know Him and the power of His might, and to know Him personally! She taught me the Bible as though she were a scholar, and under her tutelage I have most of it memorized by heart! This is the greatest thing my mother has ever given me!!
In growing up, (actually my latter teen years) my brother and I were children of privilege to a certain degree. My father worked in medicine, but my mother never let grass grow under her feet. We wore the best, ate the best, and had the best of almost everything. I don’t say this to brag! It is mere fact. My mother knew how to invest and is a very wise woman! She also taught school for many years. The only reason I write about the material aspects of my childhood is to tell you from experience of all the things my mother gave to me nothing compares to what she gave me when she “trained me up in the way a child should go” in the things of God! What good are material things when you are dying and going to hell for all eternity?? How can material wealth even compare with the goodness of God?? The Bible tells us NOT to lay up treasures in this life, where moth corrupts and rust decays! Now there is nothing wrong with things, but don’t trade “brass for gold” either. Had my mother only seen to the material things and not to the spiritual, she would have failed us greatly! I would not be the mother I am today, passing the blessing of knowing God to my children, and I would be failing them miserably!
I have an acquaintance. She is a very dear person, but God has never been a priority in her life or in her family’s lives. I tried to witness to her and she would always reject it as not being as important as what “I made it out to be”. She had a son about my son’s age. I got an urgent message not long ago this young man had been in a terrible automobile accident and had a brain injury and the doctors were giving little hope he would make it. I began to remember how she always saw to it this young man had the best of all the “toys”. He had the finest jet ski, the best boat, and when he started driving it wasn’t Dad’s hand me down car, it was a BMW. Sunday after Sunday she NEVER took this child to church. As long as I knew them she never placed any emphasis on God whatsoever!
This child grew up and hated his parents and separated himself completely from them. All the riches in the world could not buy this child’s love or relationship. The prayer I was asked to pray was that his life be spared because he WAS NOT saved! They knew this young man would not make it to Heaven.
All the riches this life can bring cannot get you into Heaven! If you are not wealthy but, you have taught your children to know Jesus, you have given them what Bill Gates himself does not have money enough to buy! You can’t buy the blood of Jesus and salvation. Only Jesus has that to give and it is given FREELY to all who ask in faith! You have given your children far more than “the world”! You have given them Heaven and heaven on earth! If you haven’t given your children Jesus, dear mother, start today. Give yourself first and God will lead you in bringing your children to God. This will literally be the best “Mother’s Day” you or your children could ever ask for!
|More Texas wildflowers along side of road|
Today, I just wanted to share some of the beauty and grandeur of my beautiful state, Texas. I grew up here, with all the beauty of spring and have never lived anyplace else. During the fall, winter, and summer this particular stretch of road and various areas I got these pictures from looks really barren and some places just plain bleak! You would never guess there are seeds beneath the ground, as barren as it may seem, laying there under the ground hidden from view just waiting for the right season to spring forth in pure wonderment! Suddenly, usually in April, you are driving down a particular stretch of road and you see GORGEOUS flowers that had not been there the day before! You would never guess this beautiful place had such potential. We had one of the most horrific droughts this year. We were not sure the wildflowers would bloom this year, or ever, for that matter because the ground was so depleted of nourishing, refreshing water! Our ranchers had to hire Mac trucks full of hay to be driven in from other states just to feed their cattle! I had no idea until we experienced the drought just how much was dependent on the average rainfall! Texas is a cattle state. The cattle are worth thousands of dollars and if you have had a steak recently it probably came from Texas. Of course, if you have read many of my blogs, I cannot help but think of how many things I see relate to parables or scriptures in the Bible and this is no different. We are like the ground according to a parable Jesus told in Mark 4. The sower sows the word. The seed that goes into our hearts is the word of God. The Holy Spirit is compared with “living water’. The Holy Spirit waters the seed planted in the ground of our hearts. Suddenly, beauty springs forth where all had looked so barren!! We literally begin to “bloom where we are planted”! We begin to give to others nourishment and the spiritual food of which we have partaken and suddenly beauty springs forth in them, too! A good example I can give you of this has to do with my son and an experience he had recently. My son will graduate from seminary in less than a week in another state. He will be coming home to live in Texas again. While he has been there he worked with a young man who was an agnostic. He would ask my son short, random questions about the Lord and my son would briefly answer them. My son would briefly answer them because they were working, but the young man seemed satisfied with the answers my son gave. This went on for weeks. Suddenly (I love that word) one day the young man approached my son. He told him, “You know I have been an agnostic.” My son replied he did know this. He then said to my son, “Well, I wanted to let you know I am not an agnostic anymore. I received Jesus Christ into my heart last night, and now I am a born again Christian!” GLORY TO GOD! My son was ecstatic!! All the seeds he had planted in this young man from the word, the Holy Spirit had “watered”, and a harvest of beauty suddenly sprang forth!! Things may seem bleak for you, my dear reader. You may have been the one planting, or you may be the one who needs a refreshing, but look for your “suddenly”! If you have been planting by reading the word and letting the Spirit of God water you through prayer, IT WILL COME TO PASS!! At the end of my blogs I am now putting the “sinners” prayer. If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Saviour and you would like to please say this prayer in sincerity and you will be born again and on your way to heaven, too. Here is a prayer that Kenneth Copeland uses in many of his books to lead people to the Lord….Confess this with your mouth and believe with your heart and you SHALL be saved, the Bible tells us. Say aloud and believe this prayer: “Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. Your word says, “Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved’ (Acts 2:21) I am calling on You. I pray and ask Jesus to come into my heart and be Lord over my life according to Romans 10:9-10: ‘If thou shalt confess with mouth the Lord Jesus Christ, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto salvation.’ I do that now. I confess Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart God raised Him from the dead.” You are now a born again Christian!! Congratulations! It doesn’t stop here! Find a good church that teaches Jesus, read the Bible, and pray (simply talk to God as you would a friend, because this is what He is)! Now watch for seeds of God’s blessing to spring forth in your life. Have a blessed day, all day!!
