Amplified Bible (AMP)
22 Jesus answered him, I tell you, not up to seven times, but seventy times seven!
23 Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a human king who wished to settle accounts with his attendants.
24 When he began the accounting, one was brought to him who owed him 10,000 talents [probably about $10,000,000],
25 And because he could not pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and his children and everything that he possessed, and payment to be made.
26 So the attendant fell on his knees, begging him, Have patience with me and I will pay you everything.
27 And his master’s heart was moved with compassion, and he released him and forgave him [cancelling] the debt.
28 But that same attendant, as he went out, found one of his fellow attendants who owed him a hundred denarii [about twenty dollars]; and he caught him by the throat and said, Pay what you owe!
29 So his fellow attendant fell down and begged him earnestly, Give me time, and I will pay you all!
30 But he was unwilling, and he went out and had him put in prison till he should pay the debt.
31 When his fellow attendants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed, and they went and told everything that had taken place to their master.
32 Then his master called him and said to him, You contemptible and wicked attendant! I forgave and cancelled all that [great] debt of yours because you begged me to.
33 And should you not have had pity and mercy on your fellow attendant, as I had pity and mercy on you?
34 And in wrath his master turned him over to the torturers (the jailers), till he should pay all that he owed.
35 So also My heavenly Father will deal with every one of you if you do not freely forgive your brother from your heart his offenses.
There are things the Lord has shown during my time of prayer that I, again, am going to use my blog to keep a personal journal to note. I am learning so much about myself, and that I am not alone in some things I thought. I have heard others who have had some the same misconceptions I have had.
One of the main things I hear from people who refuse to go to church, much less become part of the body of the church, is there is such hypocrisy in the church they want no part of it.
I find it funny there are hypocrites and gossips and backstabbing in the workplace, yet these same people never think twice about going to work! They show up everyday, give their job 110 per cent, and hold their hand out for the paycheck and start over the next week. Where is the hypocrisy now? How sad, and what a tremendous misconception. Just because someone goes to church and/or is in church leadership does not put that person in a glorified body that cannot make a mistake! People are still people until we die and go to heaven.
A true Christian and true Christian leaders are still in a natural body, just you and I are, and just as you and I are capable of messing up, they can also make mistakes, misjudge situations, and not always walk in full wisdom. They are going to sometimes say and do things that aren’t the wisest things to say and do, BUT that is the way with ALL people!
I use to be of the attitude, as naïve as it is, that if you were a “leader” you were above mistakes. I put unrealistic expectations on people and got hurt and disappointed many times because I have yet to find the perfect person, especially in myself! If I can give grace and mercy to myself for MY shortcomings, failures, and missteps then I must give the same mercy and grace when others aren’t perfect. Where the hypocrisy comes in is when I don’t give the SAME mercy and grace to others that I heaped richly upon myself.
There are things people have done that could have easily been an offense with me. I may have been misunderstood, but in their shoes, would I have misunderstood the same matter? Would I have felt and reacted the way they did? Nine times out of ten the answer has been yes, I would have. Should they have chosen that reaction? Nine out of ten times, no but I was no better! Things look much different from other perspectives. Don’t let offense in, not in the least bit!! It will deplete your prayer life of God‘s power and eventually change you to someone you would never want to be!! Satan doesn’t come to make you better! He always comes to destroy you, your future, and all good things in your life and the good things that were to come! That is why the Bible calls him the thief!
When sin is purposeful, known, and enjoyed that is one thing, but when someone errs in judgement of what is the best thing to do or not do, say or not say, that is a very different situation entirely! Be a person known for great grace and great mercy! That is what I pray to be, too!
Blessings and grace to you, dear reader! I will see you next time!
The prayer of agreement when prayed according to Matthew 18:18-20 will cover every circumstance in life:
Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Let me use finances to illustrate. The first thing to do is agree with the Word. Read the scriptures and pray. Gloria and I sometimes write down our agreements like this: “We hereby agree, according to Philippians 4:19 and Matthew 18:19 as follows: ‘Father, we see in Your Word that You will supply all our needs according to Your riches in glory. We are setting ourselves in agreement that our financial need is met according to Your Word. We believe we receive (be specific) __________________. We establish this agreement, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.’”
Amen means “So be it.” As far as we are concerned, the matter is closed. We just thank God from that point forward. We know if we want results we must not waver. To waver is to doubt.
If Satan brings doubt, we simply speak to him in the authority of Jesus’ Name and say, “Don’t bring us your lies. Not only is it written in God’s Word, but we have agreed. We have written it down.” As far as we are concerned, the need is met. There is no doubt about it because we have agreed according to the Word of God. Consequently, our confession and actions will be in line with what we have established as truth.
There have been times when we have wavered, so we take it to God and receive forgiveness for unbelief, reinforce our original decree and go at it again. We all make mistakes in the walk of faith. The important thing is to keep walking. If you miss it, go at it again. The biggest mistake of all is to become discouraged and quit before you receive your answer.
I challenge you to write down your agreements. Seeing it in black and white on paper will make a difference! You will be more likely to line up your confession and your actions with your agreement.
Jesus said that if any two on earth agree, He would be in the midst of that agreement to see that it comes to pass. You are on earth so you qualify. If you agree with another believer as touching anything that lines up with the Word of God, He is there in your midst to carry it out.
Jesus wants you to agree and will see to it that it comes to pass. The word agree is translated in The Amplified Bible as “agree and harmonize together or make a symphony together.” The word symphony caught my attention one time, so I looked it up and found that it means “all available instruments in harmony.” You must have your spirit, mind and actions in agreement with the Word.
Agreeing spiritually is to agree with the Word of God. Make up your mind God’s Word is true and that it will come to pass.
Secondly, be strong in your mind. That is Satan’s battleground. You must control your thoughts. Writing down your agreement will be beneficial for this reason. It will keep it before your eyes so when your mind tries to change directions, control it with your agreement on God’s Word. Do not tie God’s hands. Allow Him to work.
You have agreed, spirit and soul (mind). Then your actions must come in line. If finances are what you agreed on, expect the money to come in. This is part of being in agreement. You cannot agree in prayer about something, then act the opposite and expect it to come to pass. If you do, your actions will eventually take over your thinking.
Agreement with the Word and another believer are not the only things involved in this kind of prayer. Agreement is also harmony.
Harmony is extremely important. When speaking of prayer in Mark 11:25-26, Jesus said, “And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.” This is vital in your prayer life. You must forgive everyone who has offended you. Jesus did not say, “Think about it for six weeks and then forgive if or when you feel better.” He said, forgive when you pray.
Jesus prayed, “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors” (Matthew 6:9-12). He put a condition on forgiveness. The condition is “I don’t expect to be forgiven until I forgive.” He displayed the kind of discipline the believer should exercise when he is praying. How important is this? In Galatians 5:6, the Bible says faith works by love. If you are operating with an unforgiving heart, your prayer life will be paralyzed.
The Word says we know we have the petitions we have desired of Him, if we do the things that are pleasing in His sight (I John 3:22). Put these scriptures together and you quickly see unforgiveness would actually ruin the whole prayer system.
Agreement makes prayer work. You can experience a place of agreement with God’s Word, and harmony that will produce power, as you forgive and agree with another believer. You can affect governments, families and the lives of others. You can change your financial situation, affect your church and your pastor with the power of prayer. Find someone who can agree with you according to the Word of God.
The same principle works the other way. If you are in disagreement, the door is open for Satan to come in. “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work” (James 3:16).
In Matthew 18:21, Peter asked Jesus, “Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus replied, “I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
How many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus replied, “I tell you, not seven times, but Until seventy times seven” (verse 22). Forgive because God said to, and not because you feel like it.
Build your home, your church and every other area of your life on the unselfish love of God. Selfishness has never built anything it did not destroy. But love never fails. The love of God is the very center of the family of God because God is love. You are His very own child, born again with His love nature inside you.
Don’t let that love lie dormant. Cast down selfishness and let loose the love of God in you. You cannot fail when love is in dominion.
When you forgive and reach for harmony, you come to a place where you have the spiritual awareness to perceive the closeness of God. Jesus said if you get into harmony and agree together, He would be in the midst of you. God wants to be involved with you.
When you are in harmony and agreement with those around you, you will step into a deeper, more personal fellowship with God. He becomes real and vital to you. Fellowship with your heavenly Father is one of the greatest things you will ever have in your Christian walk! It causes a confidence and an assurance deep down in your heart. You know your prayers are answered because you have conformed yourself to His will. As you forgive, the joy that comes through answered prayer will become your own personal experience. Jesus said, “Ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:24).
Amplified Bible (AMP)
25 Therefore I tell you, stop being [v]perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing?
28 And why should you be anxious about clothes? Consider the lilies of the field and [x]learn thoroughly how they grow; they neither toil nor spin.
29 Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his [y]magnificence (excellence, dignity, and grace) was not arrayed like one of these.
30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and green and tomorrow is tossed into the furnace, will He not much more surely clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear?
32 For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all.
34 So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble.
On a night not too long ago my family was in the dining room playing a card game after supper. Suddenly, Gracie our chihuahua, began to run to the back door barking and was jumping up and down. I had no idea what was wrong with her, but I knew something was different.
I have a door and then I have a glass door in front of the regular door. The “regular” door was open and you could see out through the all glass door. I heard my daughter say, “Look!! A kitten!” Sure enough there was a little gold kitten mewing at the door, pawing the door to get in. I am allergic to cats. I am not slightly allergic, but I am break out in hives, wheeze, and my eyes swell shut allergic to cats! As I watched the kitten desperately trying to get in my heart melted with compassion for it.
There was a storm approaching this particular night and lightening lit up the sky. You could tell the little thing was scared and hungry. Immediately, my daughter and our friends went outside and I made a mixture of bread and milk. When I went outside there was another cat a little older than the kitten and they devoured the contents of the dish. I went back inside and found a can of chicken and fed them the contents of that as well. We managed to get them under a shed we have, along with the food. I only saw the kitten and the cat one more time and they were gone.
How I longed to rescue that kitten! I wanted to bring it into my home, give it a roof, make sure it had warm blankets and a bed. My heart broke for it knowing how starved it was and frightened of the approaching storm. As I thought of this, the Lord reminded me of how He felt the same about me. His love and compassion toward me is innumerably greater than what I felt for the kitten. He cannot and never will turn His head from me or leave me to fend for myself or without hope. He takes care of me with great promise and with great care! Oh, how God loves us all!! How He longs to rescue us from all trouble! If my heart is moved by an animal, God’s heart is certainly moved by the hurts, ills, and desperation of the human race.
His provision was and is Jesus! Jesus took our suffering, our hunger, our ills, our emotional hurts, our lack and our approaching storms and paid for them with His blood. All we have to do is trust He loves us with a great and undying love and longs to extend that love to us through His saving grace!
Do you know Jesus? Do you know you are loved and never without hope? Do you know Jesus waits for you to call His name so He can show Himself mighty, loving, and compassionate on your behalf and in whatever you are going through? He is! Call out to Him today! Give your heart to Him and see Him work wonders in you and for you! Let Jesus rescue you.
Blessings, precious reader! I will see you soon!
Before I get to the Bible Verse of the day, I need to let you know of a situation in my family. Tonight, we heard on the news the United States Government may be shut down all the way into December. This was important news for us because my husband is a Federal Agent and is still laid off from when the shut down originally began almost two weeks ago. He has been looking for work and continues to do so, since we are going without his paycheck while this goes on.
I began to think about how God blessed us with some savings but that savings is due to run out soon. I began to think about it being the middle of October and Christmas is just around the corner. I began to see in my mind our tree up, but it bare of gifts for the first time in my life, but more painfully, in the lifetime of my children! Suddenly, I caught myself as tears sprang to my eyes! These thoughts were not in line with what the Word of God says!
The Word says if I tithe and give, and we do, pressed down and shaken together would men give unto our bosom. Then a scripture hit me I had not thought of for this situation. It is found in Ephesians and it is powerful and true and appropriate for what my family has been put through by greedy men and women with no thought of anyone but themselves! Hear me…God will not allow His children to be starved, mistreated, nor will He allow for hidden agendas and the lining of pockets to continue at their expense! HE will take care of His children and who can stand against God, Himself??
Ephesians 1:17-23 says…
17 [For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him,
18 By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones),
19 And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength,
20 Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places],
21 Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and in this world, but also in the age and the world which are to come.
22 And He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church],
23 Which is His body, the fullness of Him Who fills all in all [for in that body lives the full measure of Him Who makes everything complete, and Who fills everything everywhere with Himself].
Oh, glory to God!! God has a plan, He has made a way of escape, He will show Himself mighty and no one will be able to deny it was our FATHER GOD and JESUS, our Lord and Savior, King of kings, JESUS LORD OF ALL!!!
God’s Word is not without power and it WILL accomplish ALL it has been set forth to do (Isaiah 55:11)! Thank God our lives are not in the hands of unwise and greedy people, but in the hands of the Ruler of heaven and earth!!
