We are in the process of selling our house. We have lived here since 1991. My children were raised in this house. Every Christmas, birthday, and church family celebration they have lived and experienced, for the most part, in this house. When I found out I had a buyer for it, part of me was thinking, “Well, you have really done it this time!!” but the other part of me (the spiritual side) said, “Trust God. He knows what He is doing and He has never let me down!”
Today we are to the point in the selling of the house where an inspector comes and goes over your home with a fine tooth comb making sure all is in order. He and the buyer were coming from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.. Kate and I slept in the travel trailer because we are night owls and 9 a.m. to us is your 5 a.m.!
At some point my husband had come into the travel trailer and, as I raised my foggy head, he told me they were gone and he was going back into the house. The thoughts of worry, the questions of had we done the right thing, where on earth will we go, all began to flood me. Kate was still asleep and I grabbed my phone and decided to look at ‘pinterest’ for just a minute, just to be sure I was really ready to hit the floor for the day.
When I opened ‘pinterest’ the picture you see at the top of this article was what was showing. The first words I saw were “It will happen”. I could not believe my eyes! The reason this is so significant to me is because, normally when I open this application, I see many pictures. They are usually of the latest fashion trends, home decor, recipes, etc.. They never just show one picture.
I opened this picture up completely to see it better and then I saw, “He wiped away my tears….” Again, I remembered the crying fest I had, had yesterday as I was packing the house for storage and the many tears that had fallen days before. I ran into the house and told my husband what happened (after I explained ‘pinterest’ to him).
I went to my laptop and opened the picture on the bigger screen. I didn’t want to lose one word!! As I was looking at all the inspirational pictures this particular pinner had from Matthew, hubby popped in a Kenneth Copeland CD. As I looked at ‘pinterest’ and listened to the CD, the Lord began to speak to me. “In order for you to gain, sometimes you have to lose something. But, when you lose something know what I am bringing is so much greater than the thing you lost.”
It is so opposite of our worldly western society. In our society the more you want to gain, the more you “hoard”. Some people refer to this as saving, but I see a great deal of hoarding going on that has nothing to do with saving! In the Bible it says if you want to gain, you must give away. In order to be exalted, we must first humble ourselves before God, not push our own agendas and press toward worldly goals, slapping and stomping whoever may get in our way (Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you. James 4:10). Also, we must be sure we are not striving to be exalted for our sakes, but to exalt God! If we don’t, then we are headed for arrogance! In order to receive God’s forgiveness, we must give forgiveness to others, not try to protect ourselves through offense with our own walls that imprison us. To love we must give love, to have friends, we must first be a friend. It is in the GIVING the GETTING follows!
I am giving up my home, although it is a wonderful home, God has not just what is good, but what is best for us! I want God’s best and to be in His perfect will! Although the course of our lives are changing, I know it is leading to a greater destiny and the path, though unfamiliar, is one I must let God lead as I blindly follow in complete trust! He is trustworthy and whatever it may be will be glorious.
No matter what you have lost, precious reader, whether it has been a business deal, a home, or even more seriously a relationship, keep the good that was there. Keep memories, lessons learned, and realize in the letting go God will return back to you greater than you knew possible! Trust God’s goodness and stand on His word until you see it fulfilled.
Oh, and a little “P.S.” here…If it was a relationship you lost by someone walking away from you and never looking back, hit your knees and praise God! It is better to find out early who your “fair weather” friends are than later after you have confided things, trusted them and held them close to your heart only to be betrayed and hurt later. Let people go when they walk away. If you did something, apologize, ask forgiveness, get it right with God and then you go your way in love. You are truly better off without them in your life. Their temper would have caused chaos for you later! Realize the problem lays within themselves and not in you! Just a little FYI to spare you unnecessary hurt! Again, loss is gain…your gaining of peace and simplicity afterward, rather than drama and stagnation, will yield great happiness!!
God bless you, dear reader!! I will see you soon!
The prayer of agreement when prayed according to Matthew 18:18-20 will cover every circumstance in life:
Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Let me use finances to illustrate. The first thing to do is agree with the Word. Read the scriptures and pray. Gloria and I sometimes write down our agreements like this: “We hereby agree, according to Philippians 4:19 and Matthew 18:19 as follows: ‘Father, we see in Your Word that You will supply all our needs according to Your riches in glory. We are setting ourselves in agreement that our financial need is met according to Your Word. We believe we receive (be specific) __________________. We establish this agreement, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.’”
Amen means “So be it.” As far as we are concerned, the matter is closed. We just thank God from that point forward. We know if we want results we must not waver. To waver is to doubt.
If Satan brings doubt, we simply speak to him in the authority of Jesus’ Name and say, “Don’t bring us your lies. Not only is it written in God’s Word, but we have agreed. We have written it down.” As far as we are concerned, the need is met. There is no doubt about it because we have agreed according to the Word of God. Consequently, our confession and actions will be in line with what we have established as truth.
There have been times when we have wavered, so we take it to God and receive forgiveness for unbelief, reinforce our original decree and go at it again. We all make mistakes in the walk of faith. The important thing is to keep walking. If you miss it, go at it again. The biggest mistake of all is to become discouraged and quit before you receive your answer.
I challenge you to write down your agreements. Seeing it in black and white on paper will make a difference! You will be more likely to line up your confession and your actions with your agreement.
Jesus said that if any two on earth agree, He would be in the midst of that agreement to see that it comes to pass. You are on earth so you qualify. If you agree with another believer as touching anything that lines up with the Word of God, He is there in your midst to carry it out.
Jesus wants you to agree and will see to it that it comes to pass. The word agree is translated in The Amplified Bible as “agree and harmonize together or make a symphony together.” The word symphony caught my attention one time, so I looked it up and found that it means “all available instruments in harmony.” You must have your spirit, mind and actions in agreement with the Word.
Agreeing spiritually is to agree with the Word of God. Make up your mind God’s Word is true and that it will come to pass.
Secondly, be strong in your mind. That is Satan’s battleground. You must control your thoughts. Writing down your agreement will be beneficial for this reason. It will keep it before your eyes so when your mind tries to change directions, control it with your agreement on God’s Word. Do not tie God’s hands. Allow Him to work.
You have agreed, spirit and soul (mind). Then your actions must come in line. If finances are what you agreed on, expect the money to come in. This is part of being in agreement. You cannot agree in prayer about something, then act the opposite and expect it to come to pass. If you do, your actions will eventually take over your thinking.
Agreement with the Word and another believer are not the only things involved in this kind of prayer. Agreement is also harmony.
Harmony is extremely important. When speaking of prayer in Mark 11:25-26, Jesus said, “And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.” This is vital in your prayer life. You must forgive everyone who has offended you. Jesus did not say, “Think about it for six weeks and then forgive if or when you feel better.” He said, forgive when you pray.
Jesus prayed, “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors” (Matthew 6:9-12). He put a condition on forgiveness. The condition is “I don’t expect to be forgiven until I forgive.” He displayed the kind of discipline the believer should exercise when he is praying. How important is this? In Galatians 5:6, the Bible says faith works by love. If you are operating with an unforgiving heart, your prayer life will be paralyzed.
The Word says we know we have the petitions we have desired of Him, if we do the things that are pleasing in His sight (I John 3:22). Put these scriptures together and you quickly see unforgiveness would actually ruin the whole prayer system.
Agreement makes prayer work. You can experience a place of agreement with God’s Word, and harmony that will produce power, as you forgive and agree with another believer. You can affect governments, families and the lives of others. You can change your financial situation, affect your church and your pastor with the power of prayer. Find someone who can agree with you according to the Word of God.
The same principle works the other way. If you are in disagreement, the door is open for Satan to come in. “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work” (James 3:16).
In Matthew 18:21, Peter asked Jesus, “Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus replied, “I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
How many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus replied, “I tell you, not seven times, but Until seventy times seven” (verse 22). Forgive because God said to, and not because you feel like it.
Build your home, your church and every other area of your life on the unselfish love of God. Selfishness has never built anything it did not destroy. But love never fails. The love of God is the very center of the family of God because God is love. You are His very own child, born again with His love nature inside you.
Don’t let that love lie dormant. Cast down selfishness and let loose the love of God in you. You cannot fail when love is in dominion.
When you forgive and reach for harmony, you come to a place where you have the spiritual awareness to perceive the closeness of God. Jesus said if you get into harmony and agree together, He would be in the midst of you. God wants to be involved with you.
When you are in harmony and agreement with those around you, you will step into a deeper, more personal fellowship with God. He becomes real and vital to you. Fellowship with your heavenly Father is one of the greatest things you will ever have in your Christian walk! It causes a confidence and an assurance deep down in your heart. You know your prayers are answered because you have conformed yourself to His will. As you forgive, the joy that comes through answered prayer will become your own personal experience. Jesus said, “Ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:24).
Amplified Bible (AMP)
25 Therefore I tell you, stop being [v]perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing?
28 And why should you be anxious about clothes? Consider the lilies of the field and [x]learn thoroughly how they grow; they neither toil nor spin.
29 Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his [y]magnificence (excellence, dignity, and grace) was not arrayed like one of these.
30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and green and tomorrow is tossed into the furnace, will He not much more surely clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear?
32 For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all.
34 So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble.
On a night not too long ago my family was in the dining room playing a card game after supper. Suddenly, Gracie our chihuahua, began to run to the back door barking and was jumping up and down. I had no idea what was wrong with her, but I knew something was different.
I have a door and then I have a glass door in front of the regular door. The “regular” door was open and you could see out through the all glass door. I heard my daughter say, “Look!! A kitten!” Sure enough there was a little gold kitten mewing at the door, pawing the door to get in. I am allergic to cats. I am not slightly allergic, but I am break out in hives, wheeze, and my eyes swell shut allergic to cats! As I watched the kitten desperately trying to get in my heart melted with compassion for it.
There was a storm approaching this particular night and lightening lit up the sky. You could tell the little thing was scared and hungry. Immediately, my daughter and our friends went outside and I made a mixture of bread and milk. When I went outside there was another cat a little older than the kitten and they devoured the contents of the dish. I went back inside and found a can of chicken and fed them the contents of that as well. We managed to get them under a shed we have, along with the food. I only saw the kitten and the cat one more time and they were gone.
How I longed to rescue that kitten! I wanted to bring it into my home, give it a roof, make sure it had warm blankets and a bed. My heart broke for it knowing how starved it was and frightened of the approaching storm. As I thought of this, the Lord reminded me of how He felt the same about me. His love and compassion toward me is innumerably greater than what I felt for the kitten. He cannot and never will turn His head from me or leave me to fend for myself or without hope. He takes care of me with great promise and with great care! Oh, how God loves us all!! How He longs to rescue us from all trouble! If my heart is moved by an animal, God’s heart is certainly moved by the hurts, ills, and desperation of the human race.
His provision was and is Jesus! Jesus took our suffering, our hunger, our ills, our emotional hurts, our lack and our approaching storms and paid for them with His blood. All we have to do is trust He loves us with a great and undying love and longs to extend that love to us through His saving grace!
Do you know Jesus? Do you know you are loved and never without hope? Do you know Jesus waits for you to call His name so He can show Himself mighty, loving, and compassionate on your behalf and in whatever you are going through? He is! Call out to Him today! Give your heart to Him and see Him work wonders in you and for you! Let Jesus rescue you.
Blessings, precious reader! I will see you soon!
Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days (perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be). Matthew 28:18-20 AMP
34 Then the King will say to those at His right hand, Come, you blessed of My Father [you [a]favored of God and appointed to eternal salvation], inherit (receive as your own) the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
35 For I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you [b]brought Me together with yourselves and welcomed and entertained and [c]lodged Me,
37 Then the just and upright will answer Him, Lord, when did we see You hungry and gave You food, or thirsty and gave You something to drink?
38 And when did we see You a stranger and welcomed and entertained You, or naked and clothed You?
39 And when did we see You sick or in prison and came to visit You?
40 And the King will reply to them, Truly I tell you, in so far as you did it for one of the least [[e]in the estimation of men] of these My brethren, you did it for Me.
41 Then He will say to those at His left hand, Begone from Me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels!
42 For I was hungry and you gave Me no food, I was thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink,
43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome Me and entertain Me, I was naked and you did not clothe Me, I was sick and in prison and you did not visit Me [f]with help and ministering care.
44 Then they also [in their turn] will answer, Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?
45 And He will reply to them, Solemnly I declare to you, in so far as you failed to do it for the least [[g]in the estimation of men] of these, you failed to do it for Me.
46 Then they will go away into eternal punishment, but those who are just and upright and in right standing with God into eternal life.
