Hebrews 4…The Promised Rest

I am not happy today

Hebrews 4

Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

The Promised Rest

4 Therefore, while the promise to enter His rest remains, let us fear that none of you should miss it.[a] 2 For we also have received the good news just as they did; but the message they heard did not benefit them, since they were not united with those who heard it in faith[b] 3 (for we who have believed enter the rest), in keeping with what[c] He has said:

So I swore in My anger, they will not enter My rest.[d]

And yet His works have been finished since the foundation of the world, 4 for somewhere He has spoken about the seventh day in this way:

And on the seventh day God rested from all His works.[e]

5 Again, in that passage He says, They will never enter My rest.[f] 6 Since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news did not enter because of disobedience, 7 again, He specifies a certain day—today—speaking through David after such a long time, as previously stated:

Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.[g]

8 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. 9 Therefore, a Sabbath rest remains for God’s people. 10 For the person who has entered His rest has rested from his own works, just as God did from His. 11 Let us then make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall into the same pattern of disobedience.

12 For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the ideas and thoughts of the heart. 13 No creature is hidden from Him, but all things are naked and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must give an account.

Our Great High Priest

14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens—Jesus the Son of God—let us hold fast to the confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tested in every way as we are, yet without sin. 16 Therefore let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us at the proper time.

Be Not Afraid

be not afraid

Have not I commanded you?   Be strong, vigorous, and very courageous.  Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.         Joshua 1:9 AMP

God is a “More Than Enough” God!

Romans 15:13

Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Malachi 3:10

Amplified Bible (AMP)

10 Bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now by it, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Jeremiah 17:7-8

Amplified Bible (AMP)

7 [Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is.

8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit.

Today, as I started my morning I headed straight for my Keurig as I always do.  I popped in the pod of my favorite coffee, depressed the handle and pushed the coffee amount I wanted.  As I heard it going through all of its cycles, the sweet sight of coffee pouring into my cup, along with the wonderful smell of my treat was happening before my eyes.

Suddenly, something wasn’t right!  That sweet sound and the boldness of that aroma was not the same.  I looked and my cup was only full about one-fourth the normal amount.  An immediate “UGGHHH!!!”  came from my mouth!  I was so aggravated.  The very morning I needed a full cup, which I really don’t know of a morning I DON’T need a full cup, I only get a fourth of one.  What is up with that?  I call for hubby. He briefly looks it over and tells me he has no idea.  I fixed my meager amount of coffee  like I like it and take what I can get!

As I was reading the news, God spoke to me and said that is how many people live.  They take what the devil hands them, which many times is a short supply of just about everything, and live with it the best they can.  They have no idea the Bible is FULL of how to go above what life hands you into deeper, fuller, more satisfying things.  It may be your career, the lack of a career, you marriage, relationships with family, finances, etc..  God is more than enough, but He can’t get  to you the FULLNESS of what He has if you don’t employ His Word.

You have to have faith, but in the right things!  Everyone has faith.  Even atheists and agnostics have faith…they simply have faith in nothingness if you will.  When your faith, which God tells us EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US IS BORN WITH A MEASURE OF,  is put into action the way God tells us to, when we obey the commands of God, we in turn receive the fullness of God’s supply!  If we would stop listening to politicians with their own agendas, the bad reports coming out of Wall Street, and put our faith in God’s Word, we would see visible changes in our natural lives.

When Moses sent the twelve spies to spy out the Promise Land, only two came back with a good report.  Ten saw the natural.  They were as grasshoppers in the sight of those that lived in that land, the land was full of rich crops and livestock they reported to Moses.  Wealth was great…their economy was more than blooming, but the doubters visualized defeat.  They actually blamed God for allegedly setting them up to fail!!  Caleb and Joshua envisioned the promise God had given and it fueled their faith!  They were old men, but suddenly they had the stamina and fortitude of young men!  The ten that were pessimist, were not allowed in the Promise Land, but Caleb and Joshua took by faith what God said they could have.

There are some keys here for us to take what God says every believer can have.  Let us look at the “keys” to success:

1.  You HAVE to know what God says!  How do you know?  EVERY SINGLE THING YOU NEED TO KNOW IS IN THE BIBLE!!  The Bible is literally God’s love letter, instruction book, and tool of maturity to maintain the success He guarantees!  The Word says people literally die early due to the lack of knowledge.  Notice He didn’t say they die early due to disease.  If you have knowledge that God is willing to heal you, then you don’t have to die!   Many have no idea Jesus died to heal them, hence many die before their time!

2.  You have to APPLY the Word through obedience to it!  The Word says to be doers of the Word not hearers only!  There have been many times in my life I wanted to do things my way.  I knew what the Word said, but I also knew what I needed or thought I needed!  There have been times I have wanted to say something in anger, when I knew the Word says a FOOL utters his mind, but a wise man will ponder it until later!  I had to bite my tongue until I just knew it would bleed!  It saved me embarrassment, and making the situation worse instead of bringing it to a peaceful end that was actually in MY  favor!  If you don’t know the Word says “Guard your tongue…” you will have a much different past and future!  Apply the Word if you want blessed results!!

3.  You have to pray the Word!  God says His Word will not return to Him void but WILL ACCOMPLISH ALL HE HAS SET FORTH FOR IT TO DO!  This is a mighty statement of fact!!  This applies to tithing and receiving back pressed down and shaken together, MEN giving unto us.  This includes the healing and maintained health of our bodies!  This includes the safety of our families and us (Psalm 91)!  This gives us revelation into things we could not see with our physical eyes or understand with our physical minds.  Praying the Word will not get your cup “half full”, it will fill it to overflowing!  You won’t see people or the government as your source any longer.  Your dependence will be on God because HE is your source and you know He cannot let you down!

At this point I want to say something to born again Christians all over the world!  STOP BLAMING WORLD LEADERS FOR YOUR MESS!  Since when did the government become our God??  If you want to depend on it, then do it and be mad!  But, if you will get your eyes off the government and all they are doing wrong, get your eyes on God and His word, when the world is falling apart  you will be prospering, full of joy, going along in peace without a care in the world, which is how Christians are to live because they are trusting God not men.   The world will then want what we have!!  Laws that are made against us can just as easily be nullified and laws made for us if we will get focused on the right person and that is GOD!!!  I’m like Momma here.  I have heard all I want to hear!  God is my source so what worry do I have??  No, don’t be ignorant, but at the same time don’t let it shake you!  God is still on the throne and we need to remind ourselves of that!!

Here are three simple keys!  Use them and go own what is yours, precious reader!!  See you next time!

A Prayer For Employment

a prayer for employment

Matthew 6:26

Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

26 Look at the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they?

Our Heavenly Father is very interested in you and desires the very best for you. It is His will that you prosper and be in health as your soul prospers (III John 1). Be aware that God is not limited to meet your need or bless you through a paycheck, although He can certainly use a paycheck to do so. Always remember that God is your source and you are His very own child.

Keep the Word first place in your life. Do what God told Joshua in Joshua 1:8: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

We join our faith with yours as you pray this prayer:

“Father, in Jesus’ Name, I seek Your wisdom and trust You to direct me in seeking the job that is best for me. I will walk in mercy and truth and lean not unto my own understanding. Thank You for opening wide a door which no man can shut and for giving me favor.

“It is my desire, Father, to be debt-free and owe no man anything except to love him, according to Your Word. I am willing to work with my own hands, so that I lack nothing. I praise You that it is Your will that I am self-sufficient financially and have an abundance to meet all of my needs, with enough left over to give generously to others.

“I will not fret or have anxiety about anything, Father, for Your peace mounts guard over my heart and mind. Because You are my source, I have confidence, comfort and encouragement in Your provision. I thank You, Father, for supplying my need of employment according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”  –Ken Copeland

How Do I Cultivate the Faith That is In Me?/KEN COPELAND

how do i cultivate faith

Q. How do I cultivate the faith of God that is within me?

A. As a born-again believer, you have residing within your spirit the faith of God. You have the life and nature of God. Faith is a fruit of the reborn human spirit (Galatians 5:22). Your faith has the potential to produce the same results that Jesus produced in His earthly ministry (John 14:12).

Faith must be in the unseen before it can be applied to the things you can see. It is cultivated through fellowship with the Father. Your relationship with Him is the most important aspect of your faith walk. You cannot see God, but He will reveal Himself to you through His Word, by the Holy Spirit.

Faith that moves mountains is simply trusting God to keep His Word. You cannot trust God without knowing Him. Fellowship is quality time spent alone with God getting to know Him. Your fellowship with Him will develop trust. It will enhance your faith because you are giving Him the opportunity to reveal Himself to you. You will know Him. Fellowship with God Who is invisible gives birth to the kind of faith that can change things in the visible, physical realm.

You can also promote the development of your faith through meditation and confession of the Word of God. Faith is an action; when you believe that you receive, you will act like it. God told Joshua, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (Joshua 1:8). Meditation reveals how to act on the Word. Confession is part of meditation. When you are speaking the Word to yourself, you are meditating the Word. You cannot say one thing and think something else. What you meditate regulates what you believe. Meditation and confession will cause you to be able to believe God’s Word enough to act on it in faith.

Faith is also developed through praying in the spirit. Jude 1 says, “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.” Praying in other tongues is a spiritual exercise. As you spend time every day, praying in other tongues, you are keeping your spirit active rather than passive. You will be built up on your most holy faith!
