Get Off the Worry Go Round…Again

You know I write for myself and share with you, just in case you go through or face some things like I do.  I almost didn’t blog this today because it seems I tend to major on it.  Maybe that is all in my mind, but when God deals with me about something that is what you are going to see.  I love the scripture, ” Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Philippians 4:6 KJV  I love this scripture because it reminds me yet again there is nothing too hard for God so why should I worry about it if I am trusting Him with it.   Supplication in the Bible means “to pray”.  It isn’t complicated.  It is so simple, just as all the word of God is.  We are the ones who make it hard!   I love what Kenneth Hagin, Sr. wrote in his “Bible Prayer Study Course” about supplication.  He states, “Intercession and supplication in the Spirit doesn’t just belong to the preacher.  It belongs to all of us.  It is for each one of us.  Thank God for the results that could be accomplished, but can you see the results that could be accomplished if there were more of us praying that way?”  Instead of worrying, talking the problem, thinking only someone else can pray you out of a mess, what would happen if we prayed it out, believed the word,  and thanked God for the outcome?

I remember after 9/11, the horrific tragedy that happened in America that took so many innocent lives!  Terrorism was at a level such as we had never known.  There was a study that was done a few months after that tragedy that showed anti-depressants and tranquilizers were being prescribed at three times the amount they had been before that horrible and tragic day.  Why?  Because people were worried and frightened!  Now, I am not against doctors or medicine!  I am simply saying people didn’t know where to turn or what to expect and they felt tremendous anxiety just going about their daily lives!  God is your help!  How much peace do we forfeit when we could simply say, “God, I cast this care on you and I know you are taking care of it for me and You will show me what to do when and if the time comes!”  Have you ever noticed that most battles in the Bible God’s people never had to lift a finger to fight?  Why?  Because God fought the battle for them!!  Glory to God, they were the victors every time!

Today we all face things we don’t have answers to, but we know the One who has the answers!  In 1 Peter 5:7 it says, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”  This doesn’t just mean He loves you, it means He is going to take care of that care FOR you!  The Bible also says He will PERFECT ALL THINGS concerning me!  In all of my ways He causes me to triumph!  You know some things just bear repeating!  Even Paul said in one place he had said some things before and it didn’t bother him to repeat them because they needed to be heard again.

I love the quote I found by Abraham Lincoln.  He was such a wise man!  If you will notice much of what he says in the quote is just simple living advice in a fast paced world!  God’s word is practical, too.  We live today and leave tomorrow to tomorrow.  God will be there then, too!

Blessings, precious reader!  I will see you soon!!

Stay With the Basics!

Stay With the Basics!.

Stay With the Basics!

3 O you poor and silly and thoughtless and unreflecting and senseless Galatians! Who has fascinated or bewitched or cast a spell over you, unto whom—right before your very eyes—Jesus Christ (the Messiah) was openly and graphically set forth and portrayed as crucified?

2 Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the [Holy] Spirit as the result of obeying the Law and doing its works, or was it by hearing [the message of the Gospel] and believing [it]? [Was it from observing a law of rituals or from a message of faith?]

3 Are you so foolish and so senseless and so silly? Having begun [your new life spiritually] with the [Holy] Spirit, are you now reaching perfection [by dependence] on the flesh?

4 Have you suffered so many things and experienced so much all for nothing (to no purpose)—if it really is to no purpose and in vain?

5 Then does He Who supplies you with His marvelous [Holy] Spirit and works powerfully and miraculously among you do so on [the grounds of your doing] what the Law demands, or because of your believing in and adhering to and trusting in and relying on the message that you heard?  Galations 3:1-5 Amplified Bible

I retired from teaching school years ago.  While I taught public school there was something so called “higher educators” called a pendulum.  It meant that from year to year, education would take drastic swings on how to teach children more effectively.  One year they would want us to stick with “Teacher’s Manuals” and then the next they wanted us to throw them out the window!  There was always some new fangled “revelation” coming up and we always had to “try” it!  One year we had to teach a new method where we incorporated reading, science, math, and social studies by doing the same “theme” all day long, even all YEAR long, I should say!  I became very uncomfortable with this new method and I noticed I could not keep the attention of my students as I had before when I taught the basics.  I noticed a drop in their grades and academic performance.  I decided to make up a test and give it to see where my students were in this new and “ingenious” method.  As I graded the tests, I felt my heart sink in my chest!   My children were FAILING!  They didn’t know the most basic of the basics for the grade I taught.  Thank God, the “Mother of Education” taught in my same building and just so happened to be my “real life” mother!  I took the test scores to her room and I was in tears!  My philosophy of a good teacher is that when your students “fail” to learn it is because YOU have failed to teach!!  My dear mother listened to my sob story and heard the panic in my voice.  When I was finished she simply said this, “Baby, get back to basics!  God makes brains in people just like He always has and they have learned from the old methods this whole time.  We didn’t have this problem until the “new” methods came on the scene!”  I felt peace flood my heart!  I stopped comparing what I was doing with what the other teachers were or were not doing and I got down to business with the “basics” and my old style and methods of teaching that had worked for years.  My students began to work as I had not ever seen them do that year!  They began to soak up everything I gave them.  I tested them again about two weeks later and they were at grade level and many were above, instead of lagging behind as they had before!  Staying with the basics worked and continues to work!

This has happened in the church as well!  There are many out there that are bringing in so called “new revelations”.  Let me tell you, dear reader, there is no such thing.  You may have not heard it before, but the Bible has always said the same thing, and men and women of God who want to promote Him and not themselves have taught it for two thousand years!  I love Kenneth Hagin, Sr..  He has gone on to be with the Lord, but while he was still with us he taught on something called “Just Know God…Don’t Major on the Minors”.  In this teaching he said, “So many times, in so many ways, we have majored in the minors and spent our time on things of minor importance”.  How true that is!  He goes on to say if we will just stick with four things, we will have victorious Christians and an unstoppable church!  They are exactly what Paul wrote to the church of Galatia in our passage for the day.  I will break them down for you so this isn’t a book but a “post”.

1. Stay with the salvation teaching by the blood of Jesus!  God will bless you for simply BELIEVING Him, not because of a list of do’s and don’ts. 2 Corinthians 5:17  You are a new creature in Christ Jesus, not on what you have done, but what Jesus has done for you!

2.  You have “Son”ship priviledges.  You are a joint heir with Jesus Christ, Himself.  God loves you as much as He loves Jesus and what God gave to Jesus is yours, too!  John 17:23 and 1 John 3:1

3.  Take up the teaching of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit literally makes His home in the believer!  Greater is HE that is in you than he that is in the world!  1 Corinthians 3:16  You are literally the temple of the Holy Spirit if you are born again!  You cannot fail when you yield to the Holy Spirit, Who abides in you!

Remember God is for us!  Romans 8:31 and 1 John 2:1

Remember God is with us!  He will never leave us or forsake us!  Hebrews 13:5

Remember God is IN us!  Greater is He that is in us, than He that is in the world!  1 John 4:4

You are a conqueror and cannot fail because He is in you, leading and teaching you!!

4.  Prayer-Romans 8:26 The Holy Spirit prays the perfect prayer through us!  Your prayer life has to come to pass as you pray things out in the Spirit!

I got much of this from Kenneth Hagin’s DVD, but it is directly from the word of God!  As you meditate on these things you will be grounded, sound and immovable by the circumstances of life!  In fact, you will be moving the circumstances through knowing just who you are and what you have in Christ Jesus!

Get back to the basics of the word, dear reader!  Peace will flood you and you WILL see results!  Never let people hungry for fame and glory get you off the word and onto “new revelations” that have been revealed, oddly, only to  them!  If it is the truth of God, believe me, He wants ALL to know it and to all who truly hunger and thirst for His truth and righteousness, they shall be filled with it!  He doesn’t give it to “special” ones and not the rest of His children!  He indwells us all and the Holy Spirit is the teacher of all who are His children and are willing to listen!   God will share His glory with no man and you don’t want to be involved with those who practice such things!

Thank you for stopping by, dear reader!  Have a blessed day, all day!!  I hope to see you soon!

Only Let God “Make You Over” And Nobody Else!

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

Have you ever known someone who their main mission in life was to change you?  I don’t mean to give wise advice, but to try to totally remake who God made you to be?  Do you even realize God “wired” you to be the way you are with the personality that you have?  He formed every chromosone, set in place every gene, from the color of you hair, eyes, even the very color of your skin! From head to toe He made you to be YOU and NOBODY ELSE!  The only person in life you are ever to try to emulate is Jesus Christ!  Not “Lady GaGa” please, ( I am actually begging) spare us all, nor any other so called celebrity!
The word says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5.  There it is, straight out of the word of God itself!  God made you to be uniquely you, and He approved of the handiwork of you!   He made you with that personality, those unique abilities and, according to the word, put a great call to serve Him with it!
Yesterday, as I got ready for church, the Lord began to speak to me about my pastor.  At first, I didn’t know where He was going with what He was telling me, but I listened intently!  I began to think about Pastor Scott and how funny and out of place he would look if he tried to preach and act like Kenneth Copeland (a minister my husband and I greatly enjoy and partner with) or Kenneth Hagin, Joyce Meyer, and the many others we think so highly of!  In fact, I thought, if Pastor Scott started acting and preaching like them I would not only be concerned and in deep intercessory prayer for him, I would not enjoy his messages nearly as much!  Why?  Because God made my pastor to be himself and nobody else.  His messages are intensely anointed of God, he flows in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and if he tried to get in the flesh and be someone else the congregation would miss out on a tremendous blessing.
Now, notice I said trying to be someone else is getting out of the anointing God has placed on you!  Why? Because you set aside what God intended you to be and went your own way or the way someone else thought you should go or be!  God then reminded me that in the Bible He does not tell us to go and correct one another’s PERSONALITIES, but in all humility and privacy go to someone who is in SIN and correct them, lest WE fall into that same sin or another!
God references personalities of one another in the Bible and this is what He says about it, “1BRETHREN, IF any person is overtaken in MISCONDUCT OR SIN of any sort, you who are spiritual [who are responsive to and controlled by the Spirit] should set him right and restore and reinstate him, without any sense of superiority and with all gentleness, keeping an attentive eye on YOURSELF, lest you should be tempted also. 2Bear (endure, carry) one another’s burdens and [a]troublesome moral faults, and in this way fulfill and observe perfectly the law of Christ (the Messiah) and complete [b]what is lacking [in your obedience to it]. 3For if any person thinks himself to be somebody [too important to condescend to shoulder another's load] when he is nobody [of superiority except in his own estimation], he deceives and deludes and cheats himself. 4But let every person carefully scrutinize and examine and test HIS OWN CONDUCT AND HIS OWN WORK.   He can then have the personal satisfaction and joy of doing something commendable [[c]in itself alone] without [resorting to] boastful comparison with his neighbor. 5For every person will have to bear ([d]be equal to understanding and calmly receive) HIS OWN LITTLE LOAD OF OPPRESSIVE FAULTS.”  Amplified Bible In other words you have faults of your own.  Look at yourself and don’t compare yourself to others, which could lead to to a self-inflated ego!  It also means, if you want others to have patience where you are less than perfect, then you will have to have patience with them where YOU think THEY are less than perfect!  I could write an entire book on these few, short verses alone but, at this time I won’t….:)
Before I met and married my husband I had been engaged to someone else.  When I began dating this particular man, I broke all of my own rules.  I never dated someone who had been divorced (he was), I never dated someone outside of my religious faith (he was), or someone who was outside of my own personal belief system (he was)!  We dated and after a time we became engaged to be married(that is a whole different story within itself).  The entire time I dated this man he tried to “remake” me into someone I was not. He tried to make me into his ex-wife. He wanted my hair to be blonde.  I am a natural brunette.  He wanted my hair to be shoulder length.  My hair looks horrible long!  He wanted me to act a particular way.  He literally stifled the very person I was.  I had no idea I was in the hands of a controller!  I didn’t even know what a “controller” was at that point.  Thank God, I woke up in time and did not marry this person.  As soon as we broke the engagement and all contact I felt liberated!!  As though, I had literally been set free!  Why?  Because I was!  I could be “me” again!!   I learned to be alone was better than to be with someone who would never accept me.  Amazingly, I met the man of my dreams just two months after I broke off my engagement and he didn’t try to change one thing about me.  He loved everything he saw in me and about me and we married within the year and are still married 28 years later!  How does all this relate to my thoughts about my pastor and my church?   Glad you asked!
I didn’t know why at the time God had been speaking these particular things to my heart before our first church service began, but later my husband  put it in context for me.  For years, I had tried to be accepted and loved for who I am by a particular group. It never happened.  I have a laugh that is the type you either hate it or you are drawn to it.  I don’t laugh in a ladylike manner.  I don’t laugh from my throat, I laugh from my stomach!  Pretty loud, huh?
At church yesterday, the services were absolutely amazing.  My pastor’s wife has been a friend of mine for over 15 years.  In all of this time she has always encouraged me to never stifle myself or my laugh. She would always say, “I know things you don’t and I cannot tell you.  But, I watch people around you that haven’t laughed or even smiled in years and years!! When they hear you laugh, for the first time I see them laugh!  God has given that to you!  Stop holding it back!!”  Well, yesterday (as I always do) I got tickled, so to speak, about something at church.  Little did I know my husband was watching the people around me to see how they were reacting to me.  Now, this is not to brag about myself, please my dear readers, don’t take this wrong!   A new lady walked up to me and said, “When you laugh, you light up an entire room!” She then gave me a loving hug and huge smile.  She had no idea what she did for me at that moment with that simple sentence or the impact her words had on me!  Another approached me and said, “You know, you are truly sent from Heaven!”  I never remember anybody saying I was sent from Heaven!
I left my church walking on a cloud of joy and happiness.  I was not only LOVED, I was ACCEPTED into the body of Christ in that beautiful church.  As we drove home, my husband took my hand looked at me and said this, “I was watching the people at church as you laughed and laughed.  Not ONE shook their head, turned away from you, or gave each other ‘oh my goodness’ looks.  They laughed WITH you!”
Today, I praise God I have found people of like faith!  I also thank God for new and true friends.  Today, I understand who I am and why I am the way God has made me to be!!!  How I would have cheated myself if I had tried to be someone else! But, not only would I have cheated myself but others and been a disappointment to God.  I have learned if I am not liked it isn’t me, but God Who fills me through and through that is being persecuted!  Doesn’t the word say, “Who are you to judge another’s servant?”
I am His and He is mine!
I am not the only one who has been through this.  God did not just speak and prepare me for this lesson for my own growth and benefit.  Today, my precious reader, be who GOD made you to be!  Be conformed to Him!  He will surely lead you to those who will embrace and appreciate His handiwork in you! You are wondrously made and approved of by the most high God!!! You can’t get higher approval than that!   Don’t cheat yourself and others by emulating someone else.  You will never be satisfied that way and you will never fulfill your mighty destiny!   Have a blessed day all day, my friend as you go about being the real you!
