God’s Power is at Work in You…Prayer for Spiritual Power

purple flower

Ephesians 3:14 NIV  For this reason I kneel before the Father[c] 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. 16 I pray that He may grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power in the inner man through His Spirit, 17 and that the Messiah may dwell in your hearts through faith. I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love, 19 and to know the Messiah’s love that surpasses knowledge, so you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

20 Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us— 21 to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

As I took my walk today, this verse just kept coming up in my spirit.  I could not remember all of it at first, but the words ‘according to His power that is at work within us’ just kept coming up over and over in my mind with such an intensity and fervency I determined to look it up later.

I ended up getting busy with something but when I went to bed, yet again, I could not sleep because I could not get this phrase out of my mind.  As the Lord began to break it down for me, I couldn’t sleep because I was too EXCITED!!  Let us study this verse out and think about the ramifications of it.

‘…according to His power….’  I began to think about who ‘His’ was.  ‘His’ is referring to God!  It isn’t my power, it isn’t the power of the most influential person I know or even the most influential person!  This power is the same power ‘no foe can withstand’ according to Psalm 91, which we know to be satan and any and all of his evil devices.

The definition of ‘power’ according to Webster’s dictionary is :

1 ability to act or produce an effect,  capacity for being acted upon or undergoing an effect,  legal or official authority, capacity, or right,  possession of control, authority, or influence over others, one having such power; specifically :  a sovereign state,  a controlling group :  establishment —often used in the phrase the powers that be, archaic :  a force of armed men, chiefly dialect :  a large number or quantity,  physical might, mental or moral efficacy, political control or influence, plural :  an order of angels — see celestial hierarchy

When I saw this definition, it is literally all of Psalm 91 coming alive in us, who are the saints of God.  It is Isaiah 53 at work on our behalf and winning the battle over the enemy of our lives.  It covers anything we may face physically, mentally, politically, emotionally, and financially!  It even encompasses something angels would come to fight for you and for your benefit in the realm of the Spirit, just as they did for Daniel when he prayed and waited 21 days on His answer from God.
Another way of picturing this power would be, such as, when we go to the doctor.  Whether our symptoms are a lacking of energy, having fever, possibly an inability to sleep, etc. the doctor does the same thing for each of these maladies.   He will order tests to determine what is happening in our body and then he will prescribe medicine, some type of  treatment, or vitamins and supplements that address the problem to correct it.   The doctor is, in essence saying, ‘Take this medicine and it will correct the problem and you will be as good as new.’
We then get the prescription filled and take the medicine.   We know it goes into our body and  it begins to form a combative chemistry that attacks the bacteria or root cause of the illness.   It forms a power, if you will, to target the problem and end it thereby healing our body!
We may even picture the medicine as we take it  going to that area that is making us sick, forming anti-bodies that are stronger than the germ or bacteria that is wreaking havoc on us and see it killing it, whereby allowing good, healthy cells to form again so our health is restored.

This is what happens when the power of God begins to manifest for your need.  There is a power so strong we cannot even imagine its capacity that begins to literally do a work FOR you and inside you!

God is able to go beyond ALL we could ever ask or think to ask and His power resides within us bringing the unseen to the place where we not only see it, but we have it!!  Whether it is healing, salvation from a terrible situation, or to take us, or bring us to great things, that great power is working in all of us to do ALL that is needed in our lives!

It is doing for and in you what you could NEVER do for yourself whether you lived a million years, knew the most influential people in the world,  and had full favor with them…no flesh has the power to bring the blessing and fruition of the blessing of God to your life BUT God and that is what is happening on the inside of you, even now!

How do we get that power to work within us to full capacity and guarantee it continues to work within us bringing about the changes we need in our lives?  According to the verses above this one, when we are rooted and grounded in the love of God it sets this power in motion.

Love is the most powerful force on the face of the earth!  Love can do what strength, words, and laws cannot.  You can’t stop it if you tried.  It is  power unleashed and unstoppable!  It has a force that cannot be caught, halted, or depleted.

Have you ever seen a mother with her baby?  If you know anything about mothers and children, you know there is nothing you can say or do to change the heart of a good mother toward her child!  She would lay her life down for that baby, no matter how old the baby may be!

It doesn’t matter how much that child has misbehaved at school, it doesn’t matter how bad their attitude is.  You better be very careful how you tell a mother their baby was less than an angel that day even if you were an eye witness to it!  You could prove to the mother they threw the toys, took someone else’s cookies, and even kicked you, the teacher, in the shin!  That mother will nod her head, hold that child’s hand, and love it all the more.  Instead of anger, you will see a look of  understanding, even compassion.  She may even go on to make excuses such as, “Well, they didn’t get their nap, they were up late, we were rushed.”  This mother isn’t meaning to excuse the child’s behavior, but her love has her covering the multitude of the child’s sin!

She will take them home, they will be corrected, but be sure once the correction has been administered, so will hugs and her love will be multiplied.  NOTHING you can say, prove, or do will alter or change the intensity of the love a mother has for her child.  The more someone tries to stop love, the stronger it will flourish!  That is POWER!  It knows no bounds and it never fails to produce and multiply…that is what is at work in you and me!

No matter how much we have messed up, behaved badly, screwed up chance after chance, God corrects us and then even more love than we knew before is extended and that power continues to work mightily in us to bring about the sure end to any deficit in character.  It brings a sure end to any problem we could never overcome on our own. It brings the healing the doctor had no prescription for!  It brings the POWER of the BLESSING straight to you in any and every form you need it to be in!!

Stay in God’s love, and His power will stay in you!

Verse of the Day…Love, Our Primary Duty

unfailing love

[ Love, Our Primary Duty ] Do not owe anyone anything, except to love one another, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.        Romans 13:8 HCSB

Love, the Catalyst of Faith and Unity!

harmony and unity

More and more  the Lord has spoken, “STAY IN UNITY!!”  Unity is one of the most powerful instruments God uses. In Genesis God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit were observing the people building the Tower of Babel.  God spoke and said because of this unity, NOTHING would be impossible to them, therefore they would have to confuse their languages!  Unity brings mighty power, therefore unity and all of its components are full of power to change and build up!  Unity is literally a catalyst that causes faith to work because its basis is love.  Faith works only if the love of God is in operation and sincere in one’s life!  We know faith is necessary in order for our prayers to produce what we need and are asking of God.  If satan can bring disharmony, disunity, and confusion our prayers are not only affected they can be completely nullified!

Galatians 5:6

Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision accomplishes anything; what matters is faith working through love.

When something is working it is accomplishing something, it is usable;  It isn’t broken and unusable.

When I speak of love in this sense I am speaking of the Greek word ‘agape’ love.  This is God’s love.  This is the love that is shed abroad in our hearts when we become born again.  Man’s idea of love and God’s idea of love are two different things.  Many times our idea of love toward people would be better defined as ‘like’.  For instance “I like you, therefore I accept you.   I like you, therefore I want to spend time with you.   I like you, therefore I forgive you more easily and overlook your faults in a way I don’t do with someone I don’t really like.”  This type of “love” is a natural based love from the natural side of man.

We are made of three parts.  It is typically known as “The Trichotomy of Man”.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 Amplified Bible

23 And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God]; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved sound and complete [and found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).

We are made of a spirit, soul,  and a physical body.  Though our spirits are redeemed when we are born again, our souls have to be sanctified by studying the Word of God, knowing God through a personal relationship, which is by prayer and spending time in His presence.  The more time we spend with God the more our personalities are shaped and formed to reflect Him and His personality.  This is when we “decrease” and God “increases’!  It is part of the “great exchange”.  We exchange our sin for God’s righteousness, our weaknesses for His strength, our flawed love for His perfect agape love.

Agape is defined as  unconditional selfless, self-giving, sacrificial love.  That is exactly what Jesus is and what He demonstrated.  He said if we have seen Him we have seen the Father!  Jesus was selfless.  The Word says when He made of Himself no reputation, but went about doing good!  He gave of Himself so much, when they were going “to the other side” and the wind became so boisterous it was “of hurricane proportions” Jesus was so tired, He was asleep in the hull of the ship, but He was still going to the other side to minister!  Sacrificial love is exactly what it says.  Jesus loved us so much, that without any resistance, He gave His life in the most painful death imaginable!

Our love to one another must have the same characteristics!  We cannot attain unconditional selfless, self-giving, sacrificial love on our own.  It is something that is developed by God as we give ourselves totally and completely to Him and put ourselves aside and keep Him ever before us!  As we do, our reflection is no longer of ourselves, but of our Father.  What a beautiful process!

God bless you, dear reader!  I will see you soon!  Juliana

Not Forsaken!

25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.  Hebrews 10:25  New International Translation  (NLV)

Have a wonderful Sunday!  Don’t forget to make God part of it!  Remember you are not forsaken…He will meet you there.  Blessings to you, precious reader!!
