President Barack Obama vowed Thursday during a trip to Mexico to continue pushing for new, tighter gun control rules in the United States, saying his proposals’ recent defeat in Congress was “just the first round.”
Speaking following a meeting with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, whose country has been ravaged by gang violence supported in part by gun trafficking into Mexico, Obama vowed to return to the issue of gun control in the United States.
“The last time we had major gun legislation, it took 6, 7, 8 tries to get passed,” Obama said at a press conference following his meeting with the Mexican president. “Things happen somewhat slowly in Washington, but this is just the first round.”
Democratic leaders in the Senate were forced to shelve a bipartisan proposal expanding background checks for firearms sold online and at gun shows when it failed to receive the requisite 60 votes to survive a filibuster threat. The measure’s Democratic proposal, West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, has vowed to fight to bring that proposal back up for another vote.

In one the most unusual technology offerings at the 2013 Border Security Expo in Phoenix, AZ, Sentry Visions LLC, of Siloam Springs, AR, introduced its patent-pending concept of applying a fluorescent, non-toxic earth mineral-based material on road surfaces on the U.S.-Mexican border in areas where there is a history of illegal border crossings.
According to Ron Hutcheson, president of Sentry Visions, the company’s fluorescent material, which draws radiation from the sun and glows during the night, clearly shows footprints and other traffic when disturbed and leaves a clear trail which could be used by Border Patrol agents in the states of Texas, Arizona and New Mexico to stem illegal border crossings.
In a conversation with Government Security News, Hutcheson showed photos of the fluorescent earth mineral and indicated that once it is applied on a “base road,” it will reflect clear footprints or other evidence of persons crossing the portion of the road where the material has been applied. He adds that the material experiences only a five percent loss of brightness during a 10-year period.
I am so excited to continue our series on Spirit filled prayer! Once again, grab your coffee and Bible and let us get right to it! Today we will be talking about “divers kinds of tongues” and specifically what that means. Enjoy!!
“Divers kinds of tongues are supernatural utterances given by the Holy Ghost, which are languages never learned or understood by the speaker. However, divers kinds of tongues are not always unknown to the hearers. I say that because sometimes people are present who understand a language one might receive when they are initially filled with the Holy Ghost or even when they minister in tongues in a public assembly or group.
A minister once told me about taking a trip to Mexico. He and his wife spent several days there, and this minister had the opportunity to preach in one of the mission stations in Mexico. This minister had taken a load of provisions from his church to the needy people in Mexico.
He said, “I preached about five nights, and the missionary interpreted my sermon to the people in Spanish. One night, I saw the most beautiful sight I had ever seen in my life. There was a large, homely woman who came to receive the Holy Ghost. The power of God fell on her and she began to speak in the most perfect English I had ever heard in my life. I understood everything she said.”
The woman had not been to school a day in her life. She spoke only Latin-American Spanish. In other words, Spanish was her native language or tongue. In the natural, she couldn’t speak a word of English. But when she received the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, she was given an utterance in a known tongue-known to some, but unknown to her. That did something for me spiritually! I have never been the same since.
Because it is called divers kinds of tongues, that is, different or diverse kinds of tongues, occasionally someone present may know the tongue which is spoken by another. However, this will not always be the case. Sometimes the diverse tongue is absolutely unknown to man. Sometimes the believer is speaking with heavenly languages because in another scripture we read, “…No man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries” 1 Corinthians 14:2. But, thank God, God understands.
I have also been enabled by the Holy Spirit in ministering tongues in public, and sometimes even in praying in other tongues, to speak in a known tongue-that is, known to man, but unknown to me.
For example, I was in a prayer meeting with two Spirit-filled denominational pastors one time, and it was one of the greatest prayer meetings I have ever been in. We have been praying in tongues for a long time. As we were praying, I noticed that one of the pastors looked at me several times. I continued to pray in tongues. Afterwards, I asked him why he was looking at me. He asked, “Did you know what language you were speaking?” I said, “No, I was just praying.” He said, “You were speaking Spanish.” I said, ” If I was, I didn’t know it. I was just praying.”
The pastor said, “I speak Spanish and I understood what you said. Actually, not only did you pray, but you quit praying and began talking to me in Spanish. I understood what you said.”
The Holy Spirit was talking to this pastor in a language he could understand. The tongue was unknown to me, but not to this pastor.
Just after I spoke that message in tongues to him, the power of God came upon him, and he fell on his face on the floor. The Holy Spirit gave him a vision. He laid there about forty minutes.
This pastor had a church of about 2,000 members. A Spirit-filled deacon in his church had offered to pay this pastor’s way to this convention. This denominational pastor had accepted the deacon’s offer and had become convinced of the truth of God’s Word and the reality of God’s Spirit!
Thank God for the supernatural gifts of the Spirit!”
As you see, dear reader, there are different types of tongues. Whether they are known to man or a heavenly language is up to God. Many times God will call unsaved people in their native tongue to show them He is real and salvation is through Jesus and the belief in Him alone!
Tomorrow, we will cover the importance of speaking in tongues! I look forward to seeing you then! Blessings in abundance!!
