Feeding your spirit, soul, and body!

When a “No” in Prayer Was Actually A “Yes”!

when a no in prayer was actually a yesTomorrow, a friend and I will begin teaching a class on prayer.  I am excited because once again I am teaching something I am passionate about, and I am teaching from one of my favorite books in the world, “Bible Prayer Study Course” by Kenneth E. Hagin.  A refresher is always, well, refreshing!

As I was praying about tomorrow God spoke to me and said, “So many people have not received their answers to prayer, not because I wasn’t willing to give it, but because they weren’t willing to wait”.  I have heard people say over and over the reason why some prayers are not answered is because it wasn’t God’s will, or it was because the answer is no.  When does God say, “No”?  One of the reasons is when people can pray out of selfish motives.  The Bible tells us James 4:1-3 the following-

What leads to strife (discord and feuds) and how do conflicts (quarrels and fightings) originate among you? Do they not arise from your sensual desires that are ever warring in your bodily members?

2 You are jealous and covet [what others have] and your desires go unfulfilled; [so] you become murderers. [To hate is to murder as far as your hearts are concerned.] You burn with envy and anger and are not able to obtain [the gratification, the contentment, and the happiness that you seek], so you fight and war. You do not have, because you do not ask.

3 [Or] you do ask [God for them] and yet fail to receive, because you ask with wrong purpose and evil, selfish motives. Your intention is [when you get what you desire] to spend it in sensual pleasures.

“Nos” sometimes come from praying selfishly and with evil motives!  It does not come from “not having enough faith”.  Since we know what prayers DON’T get answered, we can take the opposite and know the prayers that do!

The Bible says if we pray anything according to His will (the Bible) believing He hears us, we will have what we ask for!  Let us look-

1 John 5:14-15

King James Version (KJV)

14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Notice He says, “….whatsoever we ask….”  but it also says, “…if we ask any thing ACCORDING TO HIS WILL…”  If you are praying what the Bible says, in other words if you have a verse that backs your request, you WILL NOT  be told no IF you remain in faith!  Let me give you an example of this.

In 2005, I had a hysterectomy.  When I came out of surgery, my heart was racing and would not stop without medicine.  The doctors released me to come home after two days with a beta-blocker.  It made me so sick!!  I had severe nausea, no energy!  I could not even get out of bed unassisted to go to the restroom.  I asked my husband to hand me my Bible and to leave me alone until I called for him.  I needed time alone with God.  I began to pray fervently in the Spirit!!  When I opened my Bible it fell to Psalm 16.  I had never seen this particular verse before that time.  It says-

8 I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

9 Therefore my heart is glad and my glory [my inner self] rejoices; my body too shall rest and confidently dwell in safety,

10 For You will not abandon me to Sheol (the place of the dead), neither will You suffer Your holy one [Holy One] to see corruption.

11 You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

When I saw the part that says, “…MY BODY TOO SHALL REST AND CONFIDENTLY DWELL IN SAFETY…” I knew I was healed!  There was no way around it!!  What excited me even more was no matter what the devil would try to bring on my body, after finding this scripture, I knew it would ALL  be healed!!  I threw out my medicine (YOU DON’T DO THIS…I don’t know where your faith is) and until August 2012, tachycardia was gone!  It is September 2013, and I take no medication for my heart because when that FOOL devil tried to bring it back on me, I dug in again and ALL symptoms are gone!  Praise God!!!

Now, let us look at that last episode of tachycardia.  There is a lot to learn here.  Oral Roberts did a study of all the people he could contact that had been healed in his meetings.  He found only about 98% kept their healings!  As he researched further, he found why.  When the devil would come back to put those same symptoms on people they would say, “Well, I guess I didn’t get my healing after all.  The same symptoms are back so I must have lost my healing”.  What happened?  They didn’t know WHO brought those symptoms back, and they didn’t know how to rebuke the one who did!

Oral Roberts and Ken Hagin began to teach how to be healed and keep your healing.  Thank God, I had read Ken Hagin’s book on this!!  Sure enough, here comes that FOOL devil, again with his old bag of tricks.  He decided to dump it out all over me!!  My heart began to race and back on the medicine I went.  One night, I “came to myself” and had a revelation.  I had not resisted the devil at his onset and I didn’t rebuke him.

I got up, it was night time when this came to me and I had already gone to bed, and I rebuked, cursed the devil, and began to claim my healing with the Word of God, again.  This time the symptoms did not immediately leave as they did the first time.  At that point I had a choice!  I could have said, “Well, God I guess You aren’t going to heal me this time.”  Or I could have put a time limit on God and if it had not happened by that time I could have decided it wasn’t God’s will to heal me.  How sad, because the Bible says we are ALREADY healed not trying to GET healed!  If I had done either of those things I would still be on a beta-blocker today.  Praise God, I take NO medicine for my heart because I don’t need it!  I continued to stand on God’s word!  When my heart would try to race, even with the medicine, I would say, “Praise God I am healed and whole by the stripes 0f Jesus!!”  It was on a Wednesday night about two months ago it manifested!  GLORY TO GOD!!!

Now, was I getting a “no” from God when I didn’t see what I prayed about immediately?  Or was I getting a “no” when I didn’t see it 2-3 months later?  NO!  When Daniel prayed he had to wait 21 days for his answer to get to him.  God sent the angel with the answer the second he prayed, but the angel had been fighting demons in the heavenlies  and that is what took so long for the answer to come!

This is why it is so important to pray in the Holy Ghost!  He prays God’s perfect will for us and through us for other people and satan has no idea what is being said so he can’t sabbotage it!

Hold on to your “believer” folks!  If you are going to throw something down or away let it be human reasoning and doubt!!  Stay with the Word!!!  It is worth it!  Don’t put time limits on God!  Pray, believe and praise God for your answer and then  let God show out on your behalf from there!   Blessings to you, precious reader!!  Simply, Juliana

Get Your Mind On The Harvest

get your mind on the harvest2

If you’ve been sowing seed into the kingdom of God, I have news that will put a smile on your face, a skip in your step and joy in your heart.

Harvest time is here!

That’s right. As the Body of Christ, we’ve stepped into the season we’ve all been waiting for. We’ve moved into the time when the spiritual and financial crops we’ve planted…and tended…and believed for are coming up. It’s a time to rejoice and celebrate.

There’s nothing better than the thrill of harvest time! Oral Roberts, my spiritual father, and Gloria and I were talking about that fact not long ago, because the Lord had been speaking to him about it. He’d been reminding Brother Roberts of the days back when he held tent meetings in farm communities.

Sometimes he’d come into towns where the crops had been reaped and sold at a good price, and the streets would be full of joyful people. Everyone would be smiling and shouting greetings to each other. They’d be busy buying school clothes for the kids and stocking up for the winter. It was a glorious scene.

I know from my own experience what that’s like. As a child, I used to spend time on my grandfather’s farm. When harvest time came, whole truckloads of people would show up to help bring in the crops. All the kids would play together and at dinnertime, because there were too many people to fit into one house, the whole bunch of us would eat outside.

What fun that was! Everyone was making money. Everyone was on the move. Everyone was enjoying the fruits of their labor.

Nobody was thinking anymore about how hot and tired they’d been when they were out working in the fields, or talking about how their feet got blistered and their hands got calloused when they were chopping cotton and hoeing weeds. They’d forgotten about all that.

They had their minds on the harvest!

Making the Switch

That’s the way we, as seed-sowing believers, ought to be today. We should have our “reaping” faith in gear and our minds on the harvest.

That’s a switch for a lot of us because until now, we’ve focused our faith primarily on planting. We’ve concentrated on God’s promise to provide seed to the sower and bread to the eater.

Thank God for such bread-receiving, seed-sowing faith! It’s wonderful. It’s opened the door for God to meet our needs and give us enough to invest in the work of His kingdom. But that’s not all God wants to do for us. He didn’t just promise to give us food to eat and seed to sow, He promised to multiply that seed and give us a harvest. He said:

He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work. (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God (II Corinthians 9:6-11).

God has had harvest time in His sights all along. That’s why He taught us about sowing and reaping. That’s why He sustained us and met our needs while we were waiting for our crops to come up. He intended to multiply our seed and give us such abundant harvests that we’d always have all sufficiency in all things and wouldn’t need any outside aid or support.

From the very beginning, God’s aim was to bless us so extravagantly that we could demonstrate to the world that we don’t need anyone but Jesus to support us. He is our Source. He is the One who enriches us in all things. He is the Lord of the Harvest!

More Than We Expected

Jesus is the Lord of the Harvest. He called Himself that in Luke 10:2. When He sent His disciples out two-by-two into the cities of Israel, He said, “The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.”

The problem is, many believers haven’t exercised their faith in the harvest aspect of Jesus’ ministry. They’ve gotten stuck instead on the seed-sowing part. “Brother Copeland,” they say, “I just keep sowing…and sowing…and sowing but nothing is happening.”

Sometimes they even complain about what happened to their seed after they planted it. “I gave $50 to a minister, and then I saw his son riding around on a new bike. I don’t think he should have spent my money that way!”

People with that attitude are digging up their seed. They’re interrupting the growth process and killing their crop. When Brother Roberts told us what God was showing him about harvest time, he said that’s a mistake believers must stop making. He said we must all learn to sow our seed, release our faith, then forget about the seed.

Forget about it?

Yes, forget about it! Let it go! It’s covered up in the soil of God’s kingdom. We’ll never see it again. So we should stop fussing over it…and worrying about it…and wondering what’s become of it.

“Ken, get your mind off the sowing part now,” he said, “and get it on the harvest instead!”

Ever since that discussion, I’ve been doing that more and more. In the process, the Lord has revealed some things to me. He’s let me know, for instance, that the harvest this generation of believers is reaping is far greater than we ever expected. We are bringing in crops we didn’t even plant.

How is that possible?

It’s simple. Many believers in generations gone by who were faithful to sow seed into the kingdom of God didn’t know anything about harvest. As a result, they didn’t reap what belonged to them. They left their spiritual crops in the field.

For a long time, my mom and dad were like that. They had such a strong revelation of the importance of giving into God’s kingdom that they actually added tithing to their wedding vows. Back in 1927 when they were married, they declared they would tithe every dollar that came into their hands all their married life.

They did it, too. All his adult life, my dad had two bank accounts: One was God’s and the other was his. He never mixed them up. As a young boy, I’d go with him to the bank and watch him make out two different deposit slips, one for each account. My dad was diligent to do that for many years. He didn’t know how to reach out and receive his harvest by faith, however, until much later in life. So he never received the fullness of what he’d planted.

Over the centuries, there have been many faithful tithers and givers like my dad—believers who sowed a lifetime of seeds and, because they knew nothing about reaping, never reaped the return. The devil thinks their seeds are buried and forgotten. But God never forgets a seed. He never counts it out. He always multiplies the seed sown, then He goes looking for someone with faith enough to harvest it.

And you know what? We’re the generation of believers He’s been looking for!

We’re the ones who’ve been blessed with the last days outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the revelation of harvest. We’re the ones who will reap the spiritual and financial crops sown by our grandfathers and grandmothers. We’ll bring in harvests sown by spiritual ancestors we don’t even know.

Different Crops: the Same Anointing

I start jumping every time I think about that because harvest time is a happy time. Harvest time is what makes all the work worthwhile. That’s true in the natural scheme of things and it’s even more true spiritually.

Think about it. What could possibly be more thrilling than reaping the biggest harvest of souls in the 2,000-year history of the Body of Christ?

I’m telling you by the Spirit of God, that’s what we are doing. It’s already started. More people are coming into the family of God than ever before in all of Christian history. The Lord of the Harvest is sending us out as laborers to gather up the most staggering spiritual crop this world has ever seen. This is the beginning of massive harvest!

“But Brother Copeland,” someone might say, “I thought you were talking about a financial harvest. I thought you were saying the financial seeds we’ve sown are ready to be reaped.”

I am.

You see, you can’t have a spiritual harvest by itself. You have to have a financial harvest at the same time because harvest time is the most-expensive season of the year.

I learned that in my boyhood days on my grandfather’s farm. At harvest time, you’re buying more fuel, you’re hiring more people, you’re spending everything you have to get that crop in from the field before the weather starts to ruin it.

That’s why it takes a harvest of finances to reap a harvest of souls. Bringing in those spiritual sheaves is expensive! That’s OK, though, because the same anointing that brings forth the spiritual crop brings forth the financial crop. Both kinds of seeds are multiplied by THE BLESSING that flows to us and through us from the Lord of the Harvest.

So, roll up your spiritual sleeves and go to work in both realms. Get ready to have the time of your life.

If you haven’t thought of yourself as a harvester before now, start thinking of yourself that way. Renew your mind to the truth of God’s Word. Dare to believe the Lord of the Harvest is calling you—yes, you!—to help Him bring in His end-time crops. He’s speaking to you and saying, “Until now, you’ve known Me as the Lord over your seed. You’ve known Me as your bread provider. But I want you to know Me now as Lord and Minister of the harvest.”

Mysteries Revealed

I’m persuaded that’s what Jesus is saying to every believer who will listen these days. His fields are ripe and He is hunting high and low for those who will open their Bibles, stand on His promises of blessing, and get their harvest faith in gear. He is searching for bold receivers who won’t back away in doubt, but will jump on the truck with the rest of the harvesters and head for the fields.

The Lord spoke by prophecy during the 2006 West Coast Believers’ Convention and said those who respond in that way will be equipped with revelation that will help them get the job done. He said:

More and more, faster and faster, in more clarity and detail, the anointing will cause revelation to flow and mysteries in Christ to come clear as never before in these days in which you live. For these are the times when the mysteries shall be unveiled and you’ll say, “My, my, isn’t that simple, isn’t that wonderful.” Hallelujah. And it is and will continue to be that way because these are the times, saith the Lord, when all people will see the glory. The whole earth shall be filled with it. Amen. This is that day and this is that hour and for those that are committed, and those that are strong in the Word, and those that put My Word first place in their lives will continue to flow, and it will be a continuous flow of revelation in your life and it’ll get sweeter and sweeter as the days go by. It’s harvest time!

Things are going to increase in intensity. There are those of you that will begin to experience an outflow and overflow not only of anointing to minister to people, but in the financial realm also. And the increase will come not because of more work, or more effort on your part, but because of the intensified flow of the Holy Ghost. Not by might, not by any other way except by My Spirit, saith the Lord. My power and revelation of the love of God on a level and on a plane never before seen, never before understood by the general population of the Body of Jesus Christ.

The revealings of the secrets of faith and power. Hallelujah. Glorified knowledge in the Holy Ghost, and how to walk in anointings that will cause people to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior; Jesus as Baptizer in the Holy Ghost; Jesus as Healer and Jesus as Financier. You will be able to help them receive on a much higher plane and it will seem like, “Why this is just the most-effortless thing I have ever seen,” and that is exactly true. You are walking into an effortless, sweatless anointing. Hallelujah. A time of great outpouring. It’s here, it’s already in operation, saith the Lord. So jump in, jump in and enjoy the swim for the time has come.

Jesus is the High Priest and Chief Executive of heaven’s finances and it’s harvest time in the kingdom of God!  –Ken Copeland

Live in the BLESSING!

If you are a born-again child of God, you are BLESSED!

For months now, that’s the message I’ve been preaching to the Body of Christ. I’ve been talking about it everywhere I go, to anyone who will listen.

I am on a divine mission to let God’s people know THE BLESSING God gave Adam in the Garden of Eden that empowered them to be fruitful and have dominion over the earth; THE BLESSING He gave to Abraham that made him heir of the world and a blessing to all the families of the earth; THE BLESSING that empowered the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus Himself; that same BLESSING now belongs to all of us who are born-again believers. We are THE BLESSED!

“Yes, I know that, Brother Copeland,” someone might say. “How long are you going to keep talking about it?”

I’m going to keep talking about it until we all get it. I’m going to stick with this message until the Body of Christ wakes up and starts living in THE BLESSING!

Now, I’ve been around long enough to know that won’t happen overnight. We won’t step into a whole new lifestyle of blessing just because we hear two or three sermons about it.

Sure, hearing those sermons will get us moving in the right direction. But if we truly want to live in THE BLESSING, we must renew our minds 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We must get to the point where our revelation of it completely governs our thoughts and directs our actions. We must, as Romans 12:2 says, be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

I learned what’s involved in that kind of mental transformation many years ago when I first found out how to live by faith. I’ll never forget the first time I heard a tape of Brother Hagin preaching on Mark 11:23. In one hour, I learned something I’d been hungry to know for years. I found out not only what faith will do, but how to develop and release it.

But, as powerful as it was, that one message alone couldn’t totally renew my mind. It took time for me to change the unbelieving mind-set I’d developed over the years. Gloria and I both had to reprogram ourselves to think and act by faith in our daily lives by spending months listening to tapes, studying the Word, and attending every seminar on faith we could find. Day and night, we focused on learning about faith. Even in casual conversation we constantly reminded each other to talk and behave in accordance with it.

Those first months were intense, but I’ve found out since then that total mind renewal always requires that kind of intensity. To get it done most effectively, you have to put yourself through a spiritual version of boot camp.

I went through basic training in the Army so I know what that’s like, and it’s painfully rigorous. During boot camp, the U.S. military does everything necessary to turn a civilian into a soldier by changing the way he thinks, talks and acts. Obviously, transforming our minds with the Word and learning to think like THE BLESSED isn’t as painful as the boot-camp process of turning a civilian into a soldier. It is, however, just as important because just as learning to think like a soldier will keep that soldier alive on the battlefield, becoming BLESSING-minded will ultimately save our lives.

Blessed Are the Poor?

No one knows that better than Jesus Himself. That’s the reason He spent so much time during His earthly ministry teaching people how to understand and act in accordance with THE BLESSING. Although most believers don’t realize it, that’s what He was doing when He preached the message in Luke 6 called the “Sermon on the Mount.” Jesus delivered that entire message to outline the process of THE BLESSING.

Because we haven’t understood that, however, there’s been much confusion about what Jesus said there. Most people think, for example, that because He started His message with the statement, “Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God,” (verse 20), He wanted us to believe that poverty is godly. They think Jesus taught it’s a blessing to be poor.

That wasn’t what He said at all. He told us THE BLESSING would remove poverty. When He said “Blessed be ye poor…,” He was giving the poverty stricken the good news that their days of poverty were over. He was saying, “I’m here to restore THE BLESSING to you. You’re not going to be the poor anymore because yours is the kingdom of God!”

When I think about how Jesus intended us to respond to that news, I’m reminded of the story Brother Oral Roberts tells about his once-poor, Oklahoma kinfolk. They got rich in one day when they struck oil on their struggling dirt farm in Pontotoc County. Brother Roberts said when they hit that gusher, old “Dad Roberts” took off his hat and filled it up with the oil that was raining down all around him. Then he slapped his hat back on his head, let the oil drench his face until nothing but his white teeth were showing, and hollered, “Whew! We ain’t going to be poor no more!”

That’s what we’ll all be saying when we fully grasp what Jesus was telling us. When we really begin to see what God has given us through THE BLESSING, we’ll be hollering just like old Dad Roberts did. We’ll be holding our Bibles over our heads and saying, “Praise God, I’m not going to be poor anymore! I’m not going to be defeated anymore! I’m not going to be oppressed anymore. I am THE BLESSED!”

Watch Out for the ‘Woes’

Of course, there’s more to walking in THE BLESSING than just jumping and shouting. There are attitudes we must have and actions we must take to keep it operating in our lives. Jesus told us about them in Luke 6:27-31. He said: “Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also. Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.”

To people who have been brought up in the traditional, worldly way of thinking, those instructions don’t make any sense at all. In fact, they sound like a recipe for disaster. Everyone knows that according to the fundamental law of the street—the worldly law of survival—you must protect yourself from your enemies at all costs.

A lot of folks have lived by that law and made millions of dollars that way. They’ve shoved their way to the top and flattened anyone who tried to stop them. They’ll tell you that ruthless system works and they have the riches, fame and worldly power to prove it.

But do you know what Jesus said about those people?

He said, “Woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation. Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep. Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you!…” (verses 24-26).

Again, many people misunderstand what He means. They assume He is teaching that riches are evil. But He isn’t saying that at all. He is telling us those people are under a curse, not because they’re rich but because they acquired their wealth through worldly ways instead of through THE BLESSING; and worldly wealth always brings grief and misery. It literally brings woe.

The wealth that comes through THE BLESSING, however, is quite different. It isn’t gained by grabbing everything you can from people. It comes from giving to them. That’s the kind of wealth that makes us rich and adds no sorrow with it (Proverbs 10:22).

Losing Your Life to Find It

“Well, I just don’t see how giving could ever make me wealthy,” someone might say. “How can I ever get ahead in life if I’m always throwing away everything I have?”

Jesus didn’t tell us to throw away everything we have. He told us to stop thinking all the time about how we can protect ourselves from other people, and start thinking instead about how we can be a blessing to them. He was trying to teach us that by walking in THE BLESSING, we can get to the place where someone could steal our coat and we’d never miss it because THE BLESSING would replace it with a better one.

That’s just what THE BLESSING does. It is raw, pure, spiritual power, and when we release it by walking in it by faith, it will turn any ugly, terrible situation in our lives into a veritable Garden of Eden. If you don’t believe it, look at Jesus. He lived perfectly in THE BLESSING. That’s why everything people tried to do to hurt or destroy Him just ended up exalting Him.

“Oh Brother Copeland, surely you’re not saying THE BLESSING will work for me just like it did for Jesus!”

Why shouldn’t it? It’s the same BLESSING! You inherited it by faith in Him; so did I; and so has every other believer. The only reason it hasn’t worked for us as powerfully as it worked for Him is because we haven’t lived in the revelation of it. We’ve lived too much like the world lives—focusing on trying to protect ourselves and meet our own needs. Jesus said in Matthew 16:25: “Whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.”

When we try to save our own lives, we cut ourselves off from THE BLESSING because we’re looking to ourselves—instead of God—to save us. We become our own God; and none of us is qualified for that position. We’re not qualified to protect and provide for ourselves because we don’t have the power to do it. We could work so many jobs we didn’t have time to sleep, and we’d still be unable to gain the kind of wealth God wants to give us.

On the other hand, when we give our lives to God, when we pour ourselves out loving Him with all our heart, soul and strength, and loving our neighbor as ourselves, we put ourselves under the care of the One who is qualified to make us more than conquerors in every situation. We activate His BLESSING on our lives.

When God Says, ‘Thank You’

“Yeah, but that turning the other cheek stuff is hard!” you might say. “I don’t mind being a blessing to people who are nice, but do I really have to love those folks who act ugly too?”

You do if you want to live in THE BLESSING. For, as Jesus said:

If ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again (Luke 6:32-38).

For years we’ve quoted that last sentence all by itself as if Jesus said it so we’d have something to read in church at offering time. But actually, that verse is not meant to stand alone. It’s part of Jesus’ whole discourse on THE BLESSING.

When He said, “Give, and it shall be given unto you,” Jesus is reminding us that God never meant for us to use THE BLESSING just for our own, personal enjoyment. He intends for us to spread it around so others can benefit from it. Jesus is actually reminding us of what God told Abraham thousands of years ago when THE BLESSING was given to him: “…in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed” (Genesis 12:3). In other words, “You are blessed to be a blessing.”

To understand why it’s so important to God that we pass His blessings along, we must look at things from His perspective. We must remember He doesn’t just love you and me; He doesn’t just love the good folks; He doesn’t just love the Christians; He loves all mankind and wants to extend His kindness even to evil and ungrateful people.

But He has a problem: Those people have cut themselves off from Him. He doesn’t have any contact with them. They won’t come to Him to receive what He has to give.

So, how can He bless them?

He can bless them through us! Since you and I have fellowship with Him, we can receive His blessings and pass them along to those who don’t know Him.

Think again, for example, about the thief who steals our coat. That thief is more precious to God than any coat could ever be. Jesus bled, died and was raised from the dead for him. So when the thief steals our coat, Jesus says to us, “Don’t fight him over it. Give him the coat he stole and offer to give him another one as well!”

When we do that, we end up blessing the guy God wanted to bless all along. In return, God says to us, “Thank you! Thank you, for offering that man My blessing. Keep up the good work and I’ll keep supplying the money. I’ll keep supplying the coats. I’ll keep supplying the victory. You keep spreading My blessings; you keep giving them; and I’ll keep putting them into your hands pressed down, shaken together, running over.” Can you see it?

I believe with all my heart that in the coming days, God is going to find a group of believers who will actually start doing that. I believe that a bunch of wild-eyed, love-motivated, faith folks are waking up and becoming such a blessing the whole world will take notice.

As they do, we’ll finally see what Jesus meant when He said, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over….” We will finally see what it really means to be BLESSED.  –Kenneth Copeland
