Government spending (Photo credit: 401(K) 2013)
Can you guess which project was funded with your tax dollars?
A) A $98,000 outhouse on an Alaskan trail
B) A $1 million bus stop with heated pavement
C) A Caribbean vacation for bureaucrats staying at a swanky resort
D) All of the above
If you answered “all of the above,” you’ve either read Senator Tom Coburn’s annual Wastebook or you’ve grown that accustomed to your elected representative spending money in weird and wacky ways.
These are just a few of the most outrageous projects that received federal funding in 2013. With an out-of-this-world $1.012 trillion spending bill likely to make its debut any day in Congress, budget hawks are already gearing up for another round of outrageous spending examples. Source: Rob Bluey

I received this letter today. While our children are digging deep into minimum wage pockets to pay for college, while tuition increased to a whopping 1000.00 per SEMESTER in 2012, or while we may be having to put off investing in our own retirement to help them receive a college education, our congress is spending money on alcohol, resort stays, and 100,000.00 toilets in Alaska!
They are not stopping there. Did you know they are about to vote in another bill they don’t intend to read until it has passed?? Isn’t it their JOB to know what is passed as laws in this country in order to protect not only our rights as American citizens, but to contribute to our prosperity, as well? Guess who will pay for the hidden agendas in this one, too? YOU AND I!!
Oh, yes I know we don’t look to government to take care of us, but we have the horse before the cart! WE ARE TAKING CARE OF GOVERNMENT SPENDING FROM OUR POCKET BOOKS! We aren’t depending on them, they are depending on US! And, we are paying for things that we have no say in and will never even benefit from!
Does it not bother you that your children and you, yourself are doing without so congress can live lavish lifestyles on your nickel and dime? So lobbyist, who visited the White House over 300 times in 2013 alone, can have laws tailored to exactly what benefits them and only them? A White House, need I remind anyone, that was closed off to the public completely! What happened to President Obama’s ‘more open government’?
You should be outraged, but if truth be told, you are probably too scared of what the government can do to you if you express any form of displeasure! We have all seen our civil liberties slipping away bit by bit until one day, God forbid, we may not have any more liberty at all. Big brother is already watching and listening to you.
The least we can do is be educated while we are being fleeced by slick talking politicians we only see or hear from at election time. They have more laws to make to benefit THEM. Elect them again because the job of robbing you to line their pockets will never be over! Greed has no ‘off days’!

Congressional hearings, White House damage control, endless op-eds, accusations, and defensive denials. Controversy over the events in Benghazi last September took center stage in Washington and elsewhere last week. However, the whole discussion is again more of a sideshow. Each side seeks to score political points instead of asking the real questions about the attack on the US facility, which resulted in the death of US Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.
Republicans smell a political opportunity over evidence that the Administration heavily edited initial intelligence community talking points about the attack to remove or soften anything that might reflect badly on the president or the State Department.
Are we are supposed to be shocked by such behavior? Are we supposed to forget that this kind of whitewashing of facts is standard operating procedure when it comes to the US government?
Democrats in Congress have offered the even less convincing explanation for Benghazi, that somehow the attack occurred due to Republican sponsored cuts in the security budget at facilities overseas. With a one trillion dollar military budget, it is hard to take this seriously.
It appears that the Administration scrubbed initial intelligence reports of references to extremist Islamist involvement in the attacks, preferring to craft a lie that the demonstrations were a spontaneous response to an anti-Islamic video that developed into a full-out attack on the US outpost.
Who can blame the administration for wanting to shift the focus? The Islamic radicals who attacked Benghazi were the same people let loose by the US-led attack on Libya. They were the rebels on whose behalf the US overthrew the Libyan government. Ambassador Stevens was slain by the same Islamic radicals he personally assisted just over one year earlier.
But the Republicans in Congress also want to shift the blame. They supported the Obama Administration’s policy of bombing Libya and overthrowing its government. They also repeated the same manufactured claims that Gaddafi was “killing his own people” and was about to commit mass genocide if he were not stopped. Republicans want to draw attention to the President’s editing talking points in hopes no one will notice that if the attack on Libya they supported had not taken place, Ambassador Stevens would be alive today.
Neither side wants to talk about the real lesson of Benghazi: interventionism always carries with it unintended consequences. The US attack on Libya led to the unleashing of Islamist radicals in Libya. These radicals have destroyed the country, murdered thousands, and killed the US ambassador. Some of these then turned their attention to Mali which required another intervention by the US and France.
Previously secure weapons in Libya flooded the region after the US attack, with many of them going to Islamist radicals who make up the majority of those fighting to overthrow the government in Syria. The US government has intervened in the Syrian conflict on behalf of the same rebels it assisted in the Libya conflict, likely helping with the weapons transfers. With word out that these rebels are mostly affiliated with al Qaeda, the US is now intervening to persuade some factions of the Syrian rebels to kill other factions before completing the task of ousting the Syrian government. It is the dizzying cycle of interventionism.
The real lesson of Benghazi will not be learned because neither Republicans nor Democrats want to hear it. But it is our interventionist foreign policy and its unintended consequences that have created these problems, including the attack and murder of Ambassador Stevens. The disputed talking points and White House whitewashing are just a sideshow.

The White House said Monday that the surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing will not be treated as an enemy combatant, in response to calls from Republican lawmakers to consider that option for the sake of intelligence gathering. The announcement came as a federal complaint was filed against suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Fox News has learned that the suspect made an initial appearance in front of a federal magistrate judge at the hospital where he is still being treated. No plea was entered.
The complaint charged Tsarnaev with using a weapon of mass destruction at the marathon one week ago, an attack that killed three people and injured more than 200. The document authorized the death penalty or life imprisonment to be sought.
“Although our investigation is ongoing, today’s charges bring a successful end to a tragic week for the city of Boston, and for our country,” Attorney General Eric Holder said in a statement.
As the complaint was filed, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney made clear that the suspect would go through the civilian court system, and would not be handled as a combatant.
“He will not be treated as an enemy combatant,” Carney said. “We will prosecute this terrorist through our civilian system of justice.”
Carney stressed that the civilian system has been used to try, convict and incarcerate “hundreds of terrorists” since the 9/11 attacks, including the Times Square attempted bomber. “The system has repeatedly proved that it can successfully handle the threats we continue to face,” he said.
Carney noted U.S. citizens — like Tsarnaev — cannot be tried in military commissions and stressed that the civilian court system can handle such a case.
Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham and other lawmakers, though, were not suggesting he be tried before a military commission, since U.S. law would not allow that.
Graham, rather, was suggesting that the administration label him an “enemy combatant” for purposes of intelligence gathering. Graham conceded it’s not yet clear whether he could qualify as one — to do so, the government would need to prove he was linked to Al Qaeda or an Al Qaeda-linked group.
Officials have cited a public safety exemption in declining to read Tsarnaev his Miranda rights initially. But that exemption only lasts for 48 hours, and Graham had suggested President Obama consider designating him a combatant while they interrogate him for up to roughly 30 days.
New York Republican Rep. Peter King, among the first to call for Tsarnaev to be handled as a potential enemy combatant, stood by that position on “Fox News Sunday.” He, too, agreed that the suspect could be tried and convicted in federal court.
“He’s going to be convicted,” King said. “I’m not worried about a conviction. I want the intelligence.”
The complaint released Monday meticulously detailed how the suspects came to the attention of law enforcement. The document says that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev could be seen in surveillance footage lifting his cell phone to his ear 30 seconds before the first explosion. As others stared at the blast “in apparent bewilderment and alarm,” the document says, the suspect “appears calm.”
The document said the FBI later seized “a large pyrotechnic” from his room, as well as a jacket and hat similar to those worn by the bomber in the footage.
The complaint also claimed the two alleged bombers were the ones who carjacked an individual on April 18. According to the document, one of the carjackers pointed a gun at the victim and said, “Did you hear about the Boston explosion? … I did that.”
“The man removed the magazine from his gun and showed the victim that it had a bullet in it, and then re-inserted the magazine. The man then stated, ‘I am serious,’” the complaint said.
The suspect, meanwhile, reportedly has been communicating in writing. Federal investigators also want to speak with the widow of the elder brother, Tamerlan, according to her attorney. Lawyer Amato DeLuca told The Associated Press that, after investigators went to her Rhode Island home Sunday, the widow did not speak with them.
“We’re deciding what we want to do and how we want to approach this,” she said.

President Obama made over 600,000.00 dollars last yet, yet he wants to cap YOUR retirement so you don’t save more than what is “needed”!!! Who is to say what is more than is “needed” for you and your family?? What happened to the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Do we not have the right to decide what is “right” for us? No longer is this an option, according to our president whose job it is to PROTECT our right to prosper and thrive as people in a free nation!
Does the Statue of Liberty not say “Give me your tired, your POOR, your huddled masses, yearning to breathe free, the wretched, refuse of your teeming shore, send these, the homeless, tempest tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door.” ?
Read on and see if this is the type of representation YOU AND I are getting from our current government leaders!

President Obama wants to make sure that people don’t save “more than is needed,” and his budget proposal includes steps that would limit the amount of money individuals can have in their retirement accounts.
President Barack Obama’s budget proposal would cap multimillion-dollar tax-favored retirement accounts like the one held by Mitt Romney, his Republican rival in 2012.
Obama’s budget plan, to be unveiled April 10, would prohibit taxpayers from accumulating more than $3 million in an individual retirement account. That proposal would generate $9 billion in revenue for the Treasury over the next decade, according to a White House statement released today.
“Under current rules, some wealthy individuals are able to accumulate many millions of dollars in these accounts, substantially more than is needed to fund reasonable levels of retirement saving,” the statement said.

My first thought when I read this headline was to shudder at how eerily similar the proposal sounds to the institutionalized theft that just happened in Cyprus where bank accounts over $130,000 had 40% their deposits simply confiscated. Only two weeks ago, I warned that this would find its way here eventually. I didn’t expect it to be so soon.
This is thinly veiled Marxism sold as “revenue generation,” and anyone who opposes the measure will be accused of not wanting a “balanced approach” to reduce the deficit.
Naturally, the rule wouldn’t apply to President Obama himself, whose retirement will be funded by the taxpayer and include tens of millions of dollars in benefits. Regardless, Obama thinks he’s qualified to decide how much is “too much” for the rest of the country.
We have all heard this expression…So what’s it to you? Do you know where it originated from? Actually, it originated from Jesus and has been whittled down to a “slang” term meaning “How is this any of your business?” My mother teaches a great lesson on this when she teaches on healing.
Years ago, the enemy really attacked our family in the area of health! My dad was diagnosed with a terminal liver disease just one week after my grandfather died of a heart attack with no forewarning. My daughter was thought to be a down syndrome baby. My grandmother was hit from behind while she was at a dead stop to turn to go home and a woman rear-ended her going sixty miles per hour and paralyzed her from the neck down. All of this happened in a four-month period.
I will tell you, dear reader, you either go crazy or you get into the Bible and find out what God is willing to do for you! Those are your only two options and I know because I lived it! My mother and dad dug into the Word to find real answers not some silly theologians opinion! The Holy Spirit taught my parents about healing and my dad is alive and well today because of it! My daughter graduated sixth in her class in high school, went on to Texas A&M and graduated “cum laude” with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences. When the doctors said my grandmother would never walk again, she did! Am I bragging? YES! But, I am bragging on God and what He will do if you will do what He says.
During this time while Mother was learning about healing one of her big stumbling block questions which kept coming into her mind trying to rob her of God’s promise of healing was “Well, if it is God’s will to heal everyone, then why didn’t so and so get healed? They were a good Christian and had faith!” There is a passage in the Bible where Jesus was speaking to Peter. He told him he would one day be tied and taken to a place he did not want to be. That he would suffer for the gospel. Peter then looked at John and asked Jesus what about him? Jesus then replied, “What has John to do with thee?”
I have said all of this to say something about a completely different subject. I am a little miffed right now, so please bear with me. I NEVER write anything other than what God lays on my heart. I don’t just sit down and think, “Well, this sounds good. I’ll just go with it!” I wrote on President Bush who is hospitalized and I got a very nasty comment. Amazing, it happens to be only the second since I have been blogging since March so I am thinking I am pretty blessed. They criticized something President Bush allegedly had done when he was president years ago. I don’t know if it actually happened or not, therefore we will not broach this subject. But to this accuser and criticizer I would like to ask and ask with a smile on my face, “What has he to do with you?” For all you know, he could have prayed and set that straight with God and you are now pronouncing judgement on what God has forgiven! That is not a good idea. For when you accuse someone God does not even condemn, you answer to God Himself and there are no debates with Him that you will win!!
This is the problem with the world today. We have too many chiefs and not enough indians as my dad always says. Instead of bringing up everyone’s past, why don’t we work together to find solutions. I say we ALL begin on our knees in prayer!! I have blocked this commentator with great pleasure! My first problem is fixed there. But our country faces much greater adversities than a silly person that is trying to get noticed. Instead of criticizing, pray! Prayer is more powerful than complaining, gives better and faster results, and brings great joy because it brings answers! It is so simple, if we aren’t paying attention to the right things we will almost miss it! Almost!
The White House chaplain himself said on the 700 Club when asked for what should we pray responded the most necessary thing was for America to pray for is WISDOM for our leaders! Wisdom for ALL of our leaders! The wisdom that comes from God!! He wrote a book on it. His name is Barry C. Black. It is titled From the Hood to the Hill: A Story of Overcoming.
I think Reverend Black is worth listening to since he works with the senate every day of his life, instead of going on hearsay! Prayer should begin immediately. Division has gone on long enough!
I appreciate you, precious reader. I wish you every blessing! To my critics, thanks for the message you caused me to pray for God to give me! This would not have been written if not for you! And, I say that with a very big smile on my face!
